It’s all about the prep. Maldives at 6 months wasn’t an issue. I took two of them to Borneo, one 18 months and the other 4 years old. They’ve mostly been everywhere I’ve been and it’s never been a problem. Europe is easy, less flight time as I’ve found that to be one of the hardest parts.

The whole series 2 soundtrack is brilliant

I am a short arse but even at 10st6lb I’m lean so at 8st12lb I looked skeletal…

I don’t give a sh1t about flags, I don’t know what Britishness is or care. What I do know is that the UK is hugely diverse and people should maybe focus on and celebrate our similarities instead of demonising others who are deemed different.

I had a nasty chest infection/cold/ flu type thing that lasted a fortnight in February. Left me feeling wrecked. Two weeks later I went to visit a friend. The day after, she was taken to hospital, really ill with what turned out to be Norovirus and Diff. C - roll on 24 hours and I started to suffer with vomiting and diarrhoea. Spent 6 days in bed and went from 10st6lb to 8st12lb. I’ve not felt so ill ever before, still only 9st4lb and feeling weak.

My youngest daughter used to do that, also always had music playing in earphones whilst working. It used to drive me mad but she insisted that it helped her to concentrate… It seemed completely counter intuitive to me. As it turned out, it didn’t do her any harm as she went on to achieve brilliant A level results, got a first in Aerospace Engineering, did her Masters at UCL and has recently started working for a major company specialising in radar and satellite.

I didn’t do the maths, I took that information from another website, although you are correct. My problem was with that illustration as a stand alone to be used as a sort of ‘gotcha’ as it is actually not. We’re not as bad as Russia isn’t a high bar 😂

So, if I’m reading this right, around 320,000 people hold 20.6% of household wealth in the UK. So the rest of the wealth is shared unequally between the rest of the 6000,000+ in the UK. Hmmmm… Tbh, this means nothing without more information and context. https://equalitytrust.org.uk/scale-economic-inequality-uk

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear - Our food recyling and plastic/cardboard will be collected weekly, general waste/non recyclable will be 4 weekly. I'm in Denbighshire.

Sorry, you misunderstand. I was not accusing you of bigotry, after all you actually stated you were speaking from a place of ignorance. I was speaking on a wider scale (mostly media and media fuelled bigotry). I do, however, look at the science and historical attitudes to other minorities. Common sense doesn't exist imo.

Just had new council tax bill, only increased by 9.5% so that’s nice. This very same week I received my new refuse collection timetable, general waste moving from fortnight to monthly collections. Local recycling centre charge for most items now so prepare for more fly tipping.

That’s strange because I read the opposite, one side has an argument based on bigotry, the other seems to be scientific… I also come from a place of relative ignorance, although I had two very close friends who transitioned in the 80’s and I know what a difference it made to their lives. I have also seen how homosexuality has been treated historically and see a parallel regarding the bigotry in the media and parts of society.

Great list there, be sure to add India 👍

I remember the first time I visited, early 90’s, I had a shopping list from friends for stuff to bring back. Ventolin inhalers (cheaper than UK prescription charges at the time), prescription glasses, Tiger Balm cream, Saffron… One person I met went over to have new dentures fitted 😂

Of course all of those things also exist. I would suggest the fairer cliche would be to compare to things about the UK I hear from some of my European friends; food banks, stabbings, poverty deaths, Jaywick, unemployment etc. These are also true but not representative of the whole of the UK. Believe me, India is an awesome place to visit. What sort of place do you normally go for?
-
India has everything… islands, beautiful coastal areas, beaches, mountains, wildlife, architecture, history, culture… I’ve been twice and once to Sri Lanka and I’d go back in a heartbeat. Out of interest, where is high on your list?

Never done a fly drive but been to Canada a few times, mostly Vancouver Island as I have friends/family there. Lovely place, great people and definitely one place I would love to retire to if I could… Been to Edmonton and Calgary too but only fleeting visits. My Aunt used to own a ranch in Nova Scotia and I bitterly regret not visiting as she died from Covid in 2020 and the place was sold.

Put some tape over the hole temporarily to stop water ingress on wiring

Still very easy to fix.
-
Find a body repair company. Easily fixable but still a few hundred I would think.

Saw the Waterboys in “84 and “86. Loved their early stuff but never saw World Party, who I absolutely loved. Goodbye Jumbo accompanied me on my travels, early 90’s, on loop via a Walkman. Loved Karl’s songwriting.
