Well he’d showed he could score goals from his time at Celtic, was 6’2” so offered something we didn’t have in the squad, bit of pace, it was the very end of the transfer window, we were skint, he’d played 100 Prem games so no bedding in period (and no doubt many subs) scoring 20 goals and we had a fit Vardy or a completely unproven Cannon.
