  1. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9817599/liverpool-lead-manchester-united-arsenal-everton-and-tottenham-in-ultimate-league That has us and Sunderland slightly higher (but we are still one place behind). With regards to clubs success pre war and post war - Sheffield Wednesday are a prime example. They are 28th. Coventry on the other hand are 15th...
  2. Wooden seats. Uni of Manchester Library. It was very quiet. Until my 'silent' fart erupted into the above quoted sound. There was a lot of muffled talking and wtf... Luckily due to my seating location (central aisle with galleries to the right and left), I was out of view of most people. I waited specifically 10 minutes then left. Logic being within 10 minutes people would be too engrossed in their work to not notice me exiting from the section where the fart came from. If I had stayed and people left before me, they would have realised it was me as they walked past. I had believed that my fart would have been silent, however I failed to calculate the reverberation of wood.
  3. 6th. Ah well the value was there - the point of gambling is to have more losers then winners but still make a profit. Value value value
  4. Aeolus in the 3:15 at Ascot. Bet365 and skybet are 25/1 1/4 first 4 places. Its forecast heavy rain for the next few hours, so there will be a going change in it's favour. This horse needs good to soft and 6f. There is value in that price!!!!
  5. When Cambiasso signs can we add Inter to the list?
  6. The air france 2009 accident which has been referred to occurred in a storm. This was clear weather.
  7. The problem with metros is that they are expensive to build. And you have to think carefully of the route. As leicester has a couple of ex/lightly uses railway lines you could put one line on one of them. The ivanhoe line for example (narb road braunstone lfe (park and ride).
  8. And how do you encourage people to come into Leicester? Over priced bus service courtesy of Arriva? Or what about Sundays with the non existant bus service? The city only operates 6 days a week.
  9. I haven't read through the entire thread but this is why I think the city is going down hill. Highcross and out of town centre shopping (fosse park etc). Why? The city council and the mayor are hell bent on stopping vehicles coming into the city centre. They are trying to put pedestrian zones around the cathedral. They also have a planning strategy in place which is to prevent new car parks from opening. Trade dies. The city centre suffers as a result. Something needs to be done. Also something needs to be done about street drinking. There needs to be a ban inside the inner ring road (waterloo way, welford road, vaughn way).
  10. Read the sportinglife news piece on it. All the trainers pretty much say "the horse is useless and i got him cheap and i didnt have a penny on" lmfao Not all what he does comes off though. He had a bet on hughes to beat hanagan in the jockey championship about 3 year ago. Hughes was just behind hanagan and curley sent a runner ("a good thing") to wolverhampton for hughes to ride. This was late in the season - October time. As they go off the horse under hughes cuts in front of the field from a wide draw. Deemed dangerous by the stewards it got hughes a ban! Pretty much ruined his title chance.
  11. Shocking Ascot for me. A couple of seconds and thats it. Landed the placepot on the opening day so I shall finish just ahead no matter what happens today. Slade Power today ew. And the placepot of course.
  12. So today I have done something stupid. I have backed an odds on favourite whose best form is over a bare 5f and not 6f (length of the race). I did get 11/10 but I still wouldn't call that FAIR VALUE (3:35 Bath).
  13. I think your comments regarding the england bet should apply to those who backed Dawn Approach. Do any of you understand the notion of value when placing a bet??? MASSIVE MASSIVE PROBLEMS. This horse was never going to finish in the places - and the shit excuses of how the horse was lit up - bollocks, it would never finish in the places. It cannot go the distance. It is a miler, 1m2f at most. I backed three horses. They finished 1st, 2nd, and.... 3rd. Should have put more on the tricast though. With regards to favourites winning - between 2008 and 2010 in national hunt racing the clear fave wins about 35% of the time. To turn that into a profit the favourites need to be priced at 15/8 or bigger. At 15/8 based on £1 stakes its a return of £100.63p to £100 staked. Which isn't a lot. What you also have to take into account that a considerable number of favourites are short prices. Those favourites priced 10/11 or lower (odds on) won 58.6% of the time in the same period. At a 58.6% strike rate, it appears that it could be a profit - actually it is not. Based on the results in the study period you would be losing £6.80 per £100 staked. With regards to flat racing (more competitive), same study period, for 10/11 or shorter it is 56.9% strike rate, which is based on the results in that period a £7.20 loss per £100 staked. Favourites, no matter what the price won 32.9% of races. To break even you need a price bigger than 2/1 each time. That doesn't happen. All in all backing favourites is a mugs game.
  14. Saw that on fb earlier. Was Lisa off here actually. Idiots in the last carriage is the current theory.
  15. I'm posting this in both threads on over crowding. Me and a friend were turned away from the turnstile because we had 'reissued tickets.' Our tickets would not scan and we were told by the attendant at the turnstile that someone had used them and passed them back to us. This isn't true as I had bought them from the LCFC ticket office. After debating the issue with the stewards we were told that this has happened a lot today. We were then told to go to the ticket office. Eventually the ticket office 'reset' the tickets. We then went back to the steward who let us in through the front and onto what is considerded the 'playing area' as the game kicked off! We walked a few yards along the stand before climbing in. This leads to the following questions - were there a number of duplicate tickets accidently issued thus increasing the amount sold? Thus were there actually more people then the stand is limited to?
  16. Lets have a switcheroo. Alcohol is currently banned and this thread is asking "Legalise Alcohol?" Cannabis is legal. Mass consumption of cannabis to the same extent as alcohol is now. Think carefully about it. Don't legalise cannabis.
  17. Annoyed as I wanted to go tonight. Oh and its very arrogant... Well fook it we are top after all We're top of the league, We're top of the leeeaaague How dare you stand before us We're top of the league
  18. Arc at 3:25pm. The Arc today is a nightmare. Had a couple of ew 'interest' bets on Saonois, Great Heavens and St Nicholas Abbey. I don't think Camelots turn of foot is good enough. Saonois looks a very likely contender and St Nicholas Abbey (although I don't particularly rate Joseph O'Brien as a jockey) is a fair price for an ew bet. Great Heavens - well its been a very good season for Gosden/Buick, the horse looks like she can progress and she has the 3yo and fillys allowance. She was supplemented into the race for E100,000 when Nathaniel (full brother) was ruled out for unsatisfactory blood test. Gosden is being cautious about her chances though...
  19. There is a reason why I rarely bet on football. I'm sticking to the horses... 6 horses today 2 winners (10/1 and 4/1) and two seconds (16/1 and 2/1)
  20. Treble Leicester, Leeds and Blackburn 5.69/1 Both teams to score, Man City v Sunderland Swansea v Reading Newcastle v Utd Bury v Swindon Plymouth v Wimbledon Notts County v Tranmere 23.37/1
  21. I generally avoid football bets and also 'speculative' bets. My two ps worth... You would be better off not doing a lucky 15 but doing something like (if you bet £1 to a line at a total of £15) £1.66 doubles (x6) = £9.96 £1 trebles (x4) = £4 £1.04 fourfold = £1.04 Total: £15 What I have done there is moved the single bet £1 (x4) and put it into the doubles. You avoid the expense of the single bet - which is a pitfall and is bread and butter for bookies income. A double might not get your full stake back but it should get the majority of it back. Remember that lucky 15s are designed for horse racing bets (bigger odds so 1 winner at 6/1 gets half your stake back and not just £2 on an 1/1 football bet). I also believe (I may be wrong) that the special offers on lucky 15s do not apply to football bets (double odds one winner, 10% bonus 4 winners). Ignoring what I wrote about speculative accas I did have a bet earlier and subsequently lost the slip... I shall be ringing Hills up at 9:45pm if they come in...
  22. I can't think of any farcical names. RamAir9/11 is probably the best one and was along the lines I was thinking. Credit to Zingari. In fact RamAir 9/11 will probably get you some [negative] publicity. But all publicity is good publicity... Regards to the plane crashing sound you can always open with Megadeths Blackmail The Universe... If you don't want a jokey one you can always just pick a song or album name? Spreading The Disease? (Anthrax)
  23. It is misleading.
  24. Ladcrooks.... They weren't offering a 'golden boot' market because they know a) everyone thinks top scorer is the same as golden boot and b) it is likely to be tied on goals scored thus giving them a very good profit. When you next speak to Ladbrokes ask them what are the three key objectives of the Gambling Commission. They will answer 1) To protect the young and vulnerable, 2) To keep crime out of gambling, 3) ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way.... (at this point give them grief ) Oh and if you get nowhere with Ladbrokes complain to the Gambling Commission. They might not do anything but if they have received a lot of complaints it could cause future action. Also on the subject of 'technical terms to betting that not a lot of people know about thus bookies rip you off' always bet no goalscorer and not 0-0. Own goals do not count as goals scored. Thus 0-1 with an og = no goal scorer (price is the same as well).
  25. Cant believe The Fugue met trouble in running again. Winner was impressive tho so as to whether or not The Fugue would have won is a debate and a half...
