Nigel Pearson hopeful Anthony Knockaert will stay at Leicester City after 'very fair' contract offer

Yeh cos points are won on the training ground, right? Thank God Steve Claridge was great in training. Oh no wait he was shit in training!

Poor decision from Pearson to not give him a chance, he was MOTM against Villa at home and has not been sighted since.

People can speculate he wasn't quick/good enough but if he hasn't played then that's all it is, speculation. Personally, I think he's certainly got the quality and had we played him in a position that suits him he'd have been very useful for us.

Would much rather see Pearson leave and take his rubbish tactics with him than Knocky.

Foxestalk Sourpuss of the Year award goes to *drum roll*....

We did play him in a position that suits him:

Marc Albrighton has now understood what's required to regularly get into a Pearson line-up. Schlupp has always known:  Giving your absolute all for the team (not the crowd), every single game, is a bare minimum. Knocky always seemed to think that this didn't really apply to a 'flair' player like himself. Big mistake.

Knocky actually started the season as first-choice ahead of Schlupp and Albrighton. He had a great chance to cement his place in the team but was culpable for both Everton goals that day due to his lacksadasical approach to defending. He's a liability, and one or two brilliant moments per season doesn't compensate for this.

So much ability in the lad, and very sad to see him go... But only because  he'll now probably never fulfil his potential.

He's a lovable character and was brilliant in his first season for us, so it's understandable that people are reluctant to say his departure is justifiably a good move.

You'll have been hard pushed to have found a bigger fan of his than me during his first season, but if we're honest with ourselves this should not come as a surprise. I thought last year he blew hot and cold, and more often cold than hot. Lloyd Dyer outperformed him all year before Mahrez redefined the quality of our wide play.

Though Knocky is a technically gifted lad he isn't blessed with the physical or mental attributes required to succeed in this country's top division, and that's the harsh reality.

Good luck in your career abroad Anthony.

Must admit i dont tend to agree with much of what you say but youve nailed it on the head with Knockaert. Great post

I don't know what's up with him lately, I used to think he shifted it quite quickly but he's definitely holding on to it far too long now. So many times he's had an easy ball and he's taken three touches and been tackled.

The last few games I have had the impression that he is not interested in passing but more interested in showing off and trying to do stuff that leaves you in awe, possibly to attract would-be suitors or scouts in the stand?

This is the impression I've had since AFCON

I love a good Pearson bashing as much as the next man but quite how anyone can have a pop at him for this is beyond me.

He loves it here but he loves his family more so is returning closer to home. He's been offered a new contract but is choosing to leave.

Happens all the time.

I'll miss having him here and we'll never know if he could have made the step up because he hasnt played.

Best of luck to the lad.

I love Knocky but I think its best for him and his career if he moved to a french side (or even Italian). The Premiership is too quick for him.

But let's hope his career gets back on track at Liege in Belgium.

Belgium and France are similar sorts of leagues anyways, full of flairy fairies.

I posted that before I read he was moving to Liege.
