Nigel Pearson hopeful Anthony Knockaert will stay at Leicester City after 'very fair' contract offer

There is a difference between how you should treat players that you want to move on because of salary (Mills, Danns, Gallagher etc) and those that can make a major difference in your team (knockaert).

The way he has been treated this season will probably mean he will leave, he will be glad to go. Yet where will you find another Anthony next season to try and get us up again?

Little bit more it than that. It's noticeable that he's not appeared in the Under 21s or training photos. I believe that's to do with his ill father. Roubaix is right on the Belgian border.

Watched the season review from last year and he oozed quality. Dragged us through so many games.

This strikes me as a more personal thing. Wish him well. I've laughed, admired and shared pain with this player and he will always go down as a legend within my generation of City fans.

Best of luck, Tony.

A good move for him of true. A bit of a shame he didn't really step up to the prem like we all thought he would.

I thought he would have gone back to France.

Speak for yourself. Mahrez coming in last year suddenly made it obvious that Knockaert wasn't all that.

He might be useful in the Prem, but his rather slow turn of pace and tendency to lose the ball too easily by wasting a pass/running into cul-de-sacs would be much more severely punished in this league.

I thought there was a huge amount of people who questioned whether he could due to his lack of pace.

Shame it's not worked out for him here.. Such great memories of watching some of his performances in The Championship (excluding the Watford penalty miss)... Perhaps we'll see him back at another English club one day, albeit not playing in the premiership.. Good luck to the lad in his future career!!

Not always a fan, but best of luck Knocky, genius and frustrating in equal measure.

Especially thanks for the pleasure of the Huddersfield goals and the sheer, unbridled enjoyment of the Forest game

I think he got pretty unlucky with the early season injury, a blindingly poor piece of translation, followed by his father's illness. I don't think he was given the chance to adapt (rightly-we had to try to win every game), although as mentioned above there are good reasons for believing he might never have managed the step up. The one area he needs to rein in is taking too many touches when he's trying too hard. Once Mahrez came in he always ran himself into trouble trying to prove his worth.

He should be an ACM rather than a winger, he tracked back and had great technique-in time he could have been an Izzet type. I could still see him doing well in a team like Stoke, Swansea or West Ham that tend towards solid midfields. You don't need to be the quickest there.

If he goes (and he probably will) he'll leave a very fond memory. Cheers Knocky, see you in the Europa...

A nice summary, I see him that he has Silva-like potential, but for that to happen we need a (on-form) Toure too

Now we've got great numbers in midfield I think he would do much better than he did, but I just can't imagine how slow a midfield we'd have if we had him AND Cambiasso on the pitch at the same time.

Despite my massive frustrations, I will have fond memories of him

Mahrez  is guilty  of too many touches and ending up losing the ball down deadends

I don't know what's up with him lately, I used to think he shifted it quite quickly but he's definitely holding on to it far too long now. So many times he's had an easy ball and he's taken three touches and been tackled.

Pearson letting a player go to a promotion/ relegation rival again.

See Campbell, Beckford, Danns, Marshall and many others.

Not given a chance! What a shame, this treatment of him this season will come back to haunt us IMO.

Here we go again, everyone thinking the player might have played no part in the "treatment" he's received this year.

I think we're allowed to be upset at the imminent departure of a cult hero who was so integral to our Championship success, and to mourn his personal failure to establish himself at PL level leading to it.

Think Knockaert will be more like gradel situation than those to be honest.

Good luck knocky, we all love you

What, in so much as Pearson never wanted him to be sold but Hoos sold him behind Pearson's back anyway?

Everyone has a chance, they're on the same training pitch in front of the same management team on the same days. It's not like he's not had game time either

Pearson, the excellent man-manager that he is has given him loads of time to be with his ill Father, which means it would be pretty difficult for him to reach the performance level we MUST have

Cult hero?

Gutted, he was sensational for us at times in the previous two seasons like no other player could. I'm frustrated he's not been given much of a chance this year because there were times when we were crying out for his creativity when chasing matches. We might be doing ok now without him, but let's not forget it's taken Nigel 30+ games to bring Albrighton in to the mix and he's showing what we've been missing from a player who supplies crosses and dangerous balls in to our attackers.

I hope he goes on to achieve at Standard Liege and proves he's good enough at the highest levels in Europe.

His passion, skill and like ability will always be remembered. What a character. Absolutely gutted, just like I was with Max Gradel.

Not happy
