We will need him next season.

If we go down he will be a main part of the side.

If we stay up then Nige may put his faith in him as I'm not sure he is that impressed by Mahrez at the minute. I expected Riyad to bulk up since he came here and work harder for the team than he has been lately. Plus if he wants away and we can make good money I'm sure Nige may want to reinvest in a different and more athletic player.

He hasn't reduced our wage bill at all. Staff costs have gone up year on year, unless I'm horribly mistaken. Including this year.

12/13 and 13/14 were pretty much the same (once promotion bonus is taken off), although 13/14 would include a much higher amount of weekly player bonuses due to us doing so well. So your basic wages most probably fell, but any saving was eaten away through bonuses.

Of course it's a factor but I think he would rather keep a player than has the potential to be absolute quality (and strong back-up currently) without being so valuable we go all out to keep him

He offered a contract which is 'fair' which will probably be refused or bettered by another club.  Nige (& the club) have been seen to have tried to retain him.........but ultimately he will be gone & nobody loses any face.

Personally i think he would be off his rocker to sign this, if we go down yeh he will play but its quite clear he is no where near the level required for a premiership player.

 

He has already cancelled his car that is arranged through the club i know that much for sure.

If Pearson wants him to stay how about putting him in the squad? It doesn't matter how fair the contract is if he isn't playing he will go somewhere else.

There is a difference between how you should treat players that you want to move on because of salary (Mills, Danns, Gallagher etc) and those that can make a major difference in your team (knockaert).

The way he has been treated this season will probably mean he will leave, he will be glad to go. Yet where will you find another Anthony next season to try and get us up again?

Excellent Championship player. The attributes he has need to be backed with pace or at least acceleration in the Premiership and unfortunately he doesn't either. He is a 'I need to be loved & first name on the team sheet' type of player as well which we can't really give him in the Premiership.

 

I love Knocky but I think its best for him and his career if he moved to a french side (or even Italian). The Premiership is too quick for him.

Thanks for the memories Knocky. If he hasn't already signed with Standard Liege, I think we'll all be very surprised if he stays now.
