weller54 Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Personally I think that the strike partnership of Collymore and Heskey was the best I've seen at city but it only lasted for 1 game. Watford away??
desertfox2 Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Don't think he suggested anything like it... yeah jumped the gun a bit on that... had a work night out and a few too many beers.seemed like a good reply at the time Although Cottee-Heskey is still the best in my lifetime.
Sir Fynwy Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Watford away?? Sunderland at home was when they clicked.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Not going to get carried away. They've both done well in recent weeks, I admire their effort and endeavour, but at this level one of them (Nugent) isn't good enough long-term. I've always said that Vardy could step up and that Nugent ultimately wouldn't be good enough. Whilst Vardy has the attributes to be a success in the Premier League unfortunately Nugent can't produce consistently at this level and has serious flaws in his game that mean a Premier League team will always look for someone better. Nugent in particular has missed some huge chances in big games for us that, had he taken them, we wouldn't be in this position. Very fond of them but if we stay up I hope we see a ruthlessness from Pearson to get rid of Nugent ahead of next season. Vardy also has to maintain this over a period of time.
SecretPro Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Good lads but bottom of the prem dog fight is about the best they can do for us. If anybody seriously thinks this partnership will have city progress beyond bottom third of the premier league then they are deluded. Vardy being young has potential but he need sto develop his game in years to come and learn to be something more than just pace and engine. Neither have the finesse needed to be clinical pemier league finishers.

shailen Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 I think the two of them are underrated on here and are finally getting the credit they deserve. The way a lot of fans treated Nugent earlier on was a joke. Yes he does miss some glaring chances, but it is an art in itself to get himself in goal scoring positions. It is not coincidence. He really has scored some fantastic goals, uses the ball intelligently and always does the right thing in attacking areas. Vardy is a pest. He bullies defenders and forces mistakes and is very direct with pace which is always a problem. He also is a good outlet because if we ever need to get the ball out we can play it into the channels for him to chase. I love seeing him run at defenders, because you can tell that the opposition genuinely are scared of him. With Schlupp at LB/LWB it really causes havoc on that side of the pitch. Neither of them are prolific, but they have everything between them to make a good partnership. They are very different players yet compliment each other really well.
SecretPro Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Vardy is 28, he is not a young player. Shiiiiiit. Didn't realise he was that old!
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 They're both automatic starters at the minute, giving everything and playing brilliantly. Long may it continue. Saying that I'd like to see Kramaric involved more in some capacity.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 I have been the biggest Anti-Nugent fan for the last few seasons (even last season) I think his game is flawed in the sense that he isn't strong on the ball, he isn't exceptionally quick, he's not very composed, he can't jump and he loses the ball quite a lot. - that is the opinion that I have had since we signed him. That being said, him and Vardy work so hard all game it becomes very effective... Between the pair of them they scare defenders into mistakes, they know where each other are, they track back and they play good football between themselves. The problem is, for the future, none of them are prolific infront of goal. If Vardy was prolific infront of goal he would be a fantastic player, one of the best, he is so quick with the ball at his feet (as proven against West Brom) he could be the English Theirry Henry! Haha... He has everything about his game that is hard to teach... Pace/stamina/work rate... All he needs is to become technically good (finishing) and he would be a superstar in my opinion. Grewks Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Probably our best partnership at the minute. But....... We need better if we manage to stay up. Lets be totally honest, as great as the west brom game was, mistakes got nugent and vardy their goals. If morgan had not reacted quick enough for Nugent's, or been dispossessed by vardy he would of been in for a lot of stick.
glenelgfox Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Having attacking wide FB's such as Schlupp and RDL instead of lead footed Koch and Simpson has offered more re goal scoring chances for the front men than we had previously. NP needs to keep same formation and game plan until end of season and attack from start in all our games.
RedSoxUK Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 The BBC have Vardy in their Team of the Week, while here in Ireland the Independent have Nugent in their team. Not an achievement. It takes a brain to watch and select 11 players for a 'team of the weak' What the BBC has is a sheet of goalscorers and Man of the Match players in the 'he scored a goal' words of Garth Crooks. A 3 - 3 - 1 - 3 with Vardy in the hole, yeah - **** off Crooks.
