Morgan without Huth

I genuinely thought Morgan was MOTM for the first half.

Lets not forget that he was playing with a RB at centre back and the divisions worst left back in the second half.

Unfair to criticise him for tonights game.

It's absolutely fair to criticise his marking/slipping for their second goal. Cahill was his man, and not for the first, second or third time, he was unable to stick to him.

Also, while I do not think Konch is good enough at this level, people conveniently forgot his effort in the first half that brought out a stunning save from Cech.

Been immense last 4 games. Very difficult tonight against best team in country... By miles

Take that corner... Drogba, Terry, Cahill, Ivanovich - That's an immense lineup who score against best defenders in the world week in, week out. And we only had Ulloa who could look them in the eyes without looking up. Basing anything against the elite of the elite like that is ridiculous

I would not just cite the Chelsea game - that would be ridiculous, but to suggest he's been good enough ie, looked like a PL player during the season as a whole is equally daft. Hardly a game has gone by without a clanger of some sort.

He does not not win enough headers for a bloke in that position - he can't seem to jump. He's poor on the ball and isn't quick enough.

It's very often the same weakness's where we struggle. Morgan for the reasons stated above, Konchesky's lack of pace etc, and again this is not only about last night's game but an observation on the whole season thus far.

Apart from that set piece slip that led to their goal, he was okay. Nothing dreadful about his performance. Made a lot of blocks from crosses and some decent interceptions. Why are the same players being targeted? For me if anyone is to receive criticism, it is the second half performance of the midfield three, but a lot of that was down to Chelsea turning it up coupled with fatigue.

That applies to him all season though - apart from the clangers he's been alright.

Not sure one can omit the mistakes from considering someone's worth to the team like that, and reach the correct conclusion.

Not sure I agree with some of the extreme comments but certainly without Huth our back 4 doesn't look anywhere near as organised and solid.

I sit in the West Stand and I must of counted 4/5 occasions where Morgan wasn't organised with the rest of the defence during the second half last night. That just doesn't seem to happen as much when Huth is back there.

What doesn't help is his height. Its amazed me how tall premiership quality centre backs are. Going on last night, Huth, Cahill and Terry look massively taller!

Don't forget, Cambi CANT be criticised for anything.

It's not allowed.

Personally, second half yesterday I thought he (yes..along with others) looked utterly pedestrian, needed a rest and was completely over-run.

But you can't say that.

We all just agree we would be better off with cattermole.

You seriously just look for any excuse to put down cambiasso and it's boring. You add (along with others) in there just to try and make it look like you're not trying to pin point cambiasso, but you are.

You cannot blame cambiasso for konch's shortcomings last night. It's just bonkers.

Col said in the match thread Cambiasso was brilliant first half.

Well done for making a glaringly obvious statement then.

Strange though is why he couldn't wait jump on someone else's comment to criticise him?

Yes it's quite simple.

Cambiasso first half was brilliant.

Second half he was completely off the pace and over-run.

Why do I say that? Because it's true.

However, I better end it there because I'll be banned whilst others will say what they like and won't be.

Balance. .first half..amazing

Second half.. invisible and offered Konch (and the defence) little to no protection.

I think he was knackered.

Over and out.

I didn't think Morgan did too badly yesterday. Some of you are not looking at the quality that Chelsea have compared to many other teams.

Every player they had can pass the ball like Cambiasso's best.

Ridiculous to pick out a single player when the whole team were over-run in the second half.

Morgan did as expected really, dealt with a fairly immobile but strong striker with fair ease. Had one of his usual defensive laps that could potentially cost us a point. Standard Wes really.

Drinky was weak? What game were you watching, he was the best cm by a mile tonight. Camby played one unreal pass and that was about it

Right back at you. What did Drinkwater actually do? He managed to break down a fair few of our attacks by misplacing basic passes. I have to completely disagree. I can't see any way he was our "best cm by a mile".

I'd agree with Lambert. Drinky again had a good game. Thought James had a good game when he came on. The link up of the two for the goal was great.

Think it was somewhere in between, he did misplace a few simple passes that killed our forward momentum, but overall I thought he had a good game, did a lot more right then he did wrong. It's good to see him getting some game time.

I wasn't totally enamoured by our midfield performance second half. James and Drinky did OK in my mind but I feel they misplaced many basic passes. I also thought Drinkwater was the wrong side of his man a lot of the time, which caused us problems defensively. Cambiasso looked jaded and was a shadow of the player from the first half. He also seemed to not know who he wanted to cover and, therefore, ended up covering nobody and leaving us exposed.

Drinkwater needs to be a little more positive. I feel he's not driving forward as much as he once was. There were a few times that I was looking for him to take a touch and turn into space but instead he chose to give it back to the player he'd received it from or pass it back into defence.

Well James played most of the first half too. Seems to me the two of them played just as well in the second half but Cambi went from being very good to not so very good in the second half. I guess if we hadn't had the injuries he'd have been subbed at half time or after 60 mins.

With Huth out.. We are lacking options at the back. When Esteban was at Inter Milan he played a few games for them at center back in a 3-5-2. I think everyone can agree, when Huth went off we missed his experience and Morgan was pretty poor not playing alongside him. So I think Wes needs someone experienced next to him to help keep us organised.

But yeah, what does everyone think about moving Esteban to the back three in replace of the injured huth?

So it would look something like this against Newcastle:

Wasyl Cambiasso Morgan

or

DeLaet Cambiasso Morgan

Morgan needs experience alongside him, and Cambiasso has played at center back for Inter before.

Why would anyone drop Wasyl. He's playing very good football.
