Stevosevic Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 He's that good he's stepping down to the Belgian league at 23.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 We were just a stepping stone...... To the lower levels, no doubt.
MC Prussian Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 I wish Anthony all the best at his new club. I take it he had to move on due to personal and professional reasons equally - be it because he felt he was no longer wanted at the club (despite the contract extension offer) or because private matters back home at the French-Belgian border have suddenly become more urgent. I do hope he takes the Pro League by storm and that he can grow even further as a footballer. I have no ill feelings towards Knockaert. He may have come across as a little arrogant at times, but then again he's still rather young and will only learn from his experience in England and the Premier League. All in all, a future friendly against Standard should be in order - I can't bear to think of what could happen if we were to encounter his new team at a later stage in a European competition.
ScouseFox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 He's that good he's stepping down to the Belgian league at 23. really why be such a dick about it? did he push in front of you in a queue for a drink in a bar once or something? i'd have him in my top 5 favourite players to ever play for us but i'm fully aware of all the reasons why he'll be leaving. perhaps one is that he isn't currently good enough for our side and wants regular football. he was definitely good enough to play for a side that won 0 games in 3 months and created 0 chances for about 6 weeks though. that's beside the point, anyway. not many at all are moaning that he should be staying based on ability. people are simply sad to see him go. he's been through it all here, and as fez said in his piece when it looked like he was off on loan, he seems to have genuinely been through it all as much as we have. he's not some mercenary or some nobody who just turns up to play on a saturday like we'd be used to for 10 years before he arrived. he was/is a kid who wants to play football and give it his all. he never did anything else. sometimes the result was absolutely gobsmackingly superb, other times it was heartbreaking. that's football. that's life. he epitomises everything i want in a football player at my club. he was probably our most skilfull player for a good 18 months of his tenure here. but that didn't matter. he probably knew he was that, too. but it still didn't matter. what mattered is that he wanted to be the most skilfull, he wanted to be the best player on the pitch and he wanted to do well for this club. give me knockaert x11 over anyone else who played for us for the decade before he arrived. hope he does well and gives his all for his new club. for "step down to the belgian league", see "step into the europa league", too. can't wait to see him on itv4 tearing it up. love you knocky.
slymunn Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 I'd rather have 11 muzzy izzets than 11 knockys from the decade before him.
BoyJones Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Good luck Tony, thanks for some memorable moments! Will follow your career with interest.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 I'd rather have 11 muzzy izzets than 11 knockys from the decade before him. what an absolute inane comment
sylofox Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Pen 3, Wednesday night, 26,000 packed in. 3-3 draw I remember. What a night and what a screamer. Nearly uprooted the net. Pen 2 saturday afternoon we won 2-0 season we did the double over them.
MrSpaM Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Lets be honest here, the only reason he stuck around until the end of the season was to see if we'd get relegated so he could get game time again and not take a drop in his wages
slymunn Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 what an absolute inane comment Just a reply to someone saying they would rather have 11 knockys than anyone from the decade before. Just saying I would rather have muzzy that's all. Didn't think it was too stupid of a thing to say?
