Bagworthblue Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Array always said you needed 5 strikers for a successful Prem outfit. That's what we'll have by the end of the window - possibly even four! to be fair as well he was right about this cos someone who knows what they are talking about once told him that!! Unfortunately, a load of wallys who know bugger all also told him loads of stuff
LCCFox96 Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 I would sooner see the money we apparently are looking to spend on Austin elsewhere in the squad, CM and CB should be our priorities. That being said I wouldn't say no to Austin in the future but feel right now his addition to the squad will do more damage than good.
hackneyfox Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 It isn't an either/or option here. We can spend 20m on strikers and still bring in midfielders. A new manager may well be bringing in a new centre half as well.
simon789us Posted 4 July 2015 Posted 4 July 2015 get charlie in cambiasso and another CM then poss a CD and or LB then job done
tom_kettering Posted 4 July 2015 Posted 4 July 2015 Ok, say we play 3 up top. Ulloa or Austin as the main central striker. Kramaric, Okazaki, Vardy or Mahrez either side. That's 2 players for every position which most people have been saying we need. If rumours are to believed, Nuge will be off after his Thailand antics.

I read something somewhere about him getting alcohol poisoning, but I only saw it once and wasn't sure if it was true. What allegedly happened?
Frank to be Posted 4 July 2015 Posted 4 July 2015 I genuinely wonder what some planet people are on judging by comments in various threads about how many strikers the club needs. It's not football manager. Accumulating players who all want to start games at this level is not 1) easy to manage or 2) feasible. There are a number of other clubs in the Premier League that Charlie Austin could move to and be number 1. Swansea, Aston Villa and Newcastle just for a start. If people honestly think that 3 of Vardy, Okazaki, Kramaric, Austin and Ulloa would be happy about sitting on the bench and would not be a detriment to squad morale then I've lost hope in the average football fans intelligence. Ironic you'd mention football manager, it's probably only on football manager that one player's discontent can spread so easily to the whole squad. Squad moral was perfectly fine last season with the likes of Knockaert and Wood frozen out of the team. Every squad in the league has players who don't play regularly. If they don't like it, they get their head down and either force their way back into the team or earn a move elsewhere. They're highly paid professionals not petulant kids. No team has ever progressed by being afraid to replace players who have been decent with players who are even better. Look as us with Lloyd last year. Footballers expect it. They're not heartbroken by it.
AlbertFox Posted 4 July 2015 Posted 4 July 2015 Even if you remove Nugent from the list that still leaves 3 strikers all signed within the last 12 months and Vardy who's now an England international.Make no mistake, Vardys international cap was purely due to injuries and players being in the U21 squad. As well as he's done for us, he is not going to be regularly called up. IMO Austin is largely a different type of player to what we have and gives us options, which is what we should be aiming for, and at 25 (?) should have his best years ahead. If Okazaki is to be played deeper, gives us a choice from Ulloa, Austin, Kramaric and Vardy, the last of which could also be used as a wide option. Sounds good to me....(Edited for typo)

dannyjpage Posted 4 July 2015 Posted 4 July 2015 It's good competition and hopefully they are all getting their nut down pre season.
Swiper Posted 4 July 2015 Posted 4 July 2015 You mean you saw it on here Well I couldn't remember if I saw it here or Twitter. At some point it all seems to run together.

FOXES-BROWNBOY Posted 4 July 2015 Posted 4 July 2015 if we were to sign Austin then we would need to get rid off one of the strikers, could get rid of Nuge and get a couple of mil (a decent squad player but not good enough for prem) , or sell Vardy £8-10mil (would be sad to see this happen but he isnt getting any younger and i think we could get good money for him however wouldnt like too see this happen), or sell Kramaric i think we would get our money back on him (even though he didnt live up to his expectation he came into a losing team and it would have been very hard to hit top form , also he has shown potential to be a good player and with first team football he could very good + only 24) or sell Ulloa for around £10mil (top goal scorer last season and is a target man which none of the others are, like Vardy he isnt young and we could get good money for him but would he get in our starting 11 next season) IMO we should get rid of Nuge , he isnt up to the prem and im sure a champ team will snap him up. Sure we would get £2-3 mil for him, leaving us with Vardy Ulloa Kramaric Okazaki and possibly Austin
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 July 2015 Posted 4 July 2015 Could we be setting up to play 1 0 0 10 next season...? We'll score tons! Might concede a few too though..
Carl the Llama Posted 4 July 2015 Posted 4 July 2015 Buy all the strikers and nobody else can score, it's genius.
