Wilson_6 Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 We are in desperate need of 2 first choice CM going into this season, Kingy is also good for a goal but if we really want to kick on we can't be relying on him, Drinky and Hammond to provide us with that required quality in the most important area of the pitch. James was great last year but who knows how long it'll take him to come back properly and we've obviously lost our Lynchpin. Our squad is currently weaker than it was at the end of the season whilst everyone (except Villa) have strengthened. Really need to pull our fingers out, May I also add I despise how the season starts whilst the transfer window is still open. We'll have played 4 games by the time it closes and they could be crucial come the end of the season. I hate the way the undoubted busiest day for most clubs come after 12 points have already been up for grabs, teams can look very different before and after so we have signed a top class left back, Decent sriker with good goal scoring record and the best defender who played for us last season....But we haven't strengthen? Why does everyone on here suddenly think our current players (Who kept us up last season) are now not good enough? Whole sale changes is not the answer!
Wilson_6 Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Because I like all three French players and being greedy heh. I don't really rate Hammond or Drinky at this level too to be honest. Hammond did a good job at the start of the season hes good enough to be a squad player. Drinkwater was in and out of the team all season he can still improve. It was only a year or 2 ago every one was saying he is going to be a huge player and play for England.

We also needed another midfielder if Cambiasso stayed anyway so we need 2 x CM now as a very minimum . Its a pre season friendly results dont mater ... Think he's already proved him self to be a very good player. Huth wasnt our player we still had to sign him which we have. Yes the midfield looks a little bare but im sure it wont look so bare in a week or twos time.

Blimey that's my point! If we do buy two CM's in, which I'm sure he will do, then we will have strengthened and all will be good with the world. I was speaking from the perspective as the squad is currently we haven't. Come August 8th or Sept 2nd it'll all be different

RowlattsFox Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 We might struggle to get the signings we need before the season starts, teams will be waiting until it gets closer to the end of the window. The window should close either before the season starts or very soon after, not weeks later. If we manage to get one centre mid before Sunderland I'll be satisfied. Then add another one before the window shuts. A defenders is also a priority, Morgan will probably be away still and Fuchs/Moore weren't convincing in a back 3 last night.

We'll revisit this at Christmas and if he has been doggo then i'll fall on my sword and owe you a pint.

He is the captain of his country, and 4 months ago was lining up in the champions league last 16 against Real Madrid (and scoring against them). Maybe he wasn't inspired to play his finest football in a 45 minute run out at Sincil Bank.... Doesn't change the fact he is probably the classiest player in our squad for now.

Liam Moore needs to book his ideas up otherwise he will be 5th or 6th choice. On a positive note chilwell impressed me last night the lad has a good future ahead of him

And what's happened so far this summer hasn't exactly filled me with confidence. It would be suicidal to leave deals until deadline day this year, because the wrong opening string of results could put the manager, team and board under immense pressure. But I feel like I'm stating the obvious a bit here. We need to refit our central midfield and, most probably, bring in another RB/CB, and get them to gel adequately.

Probably two CM signed permanently, and a loan from Chelsea (either Ake or Romeu) Who can double up in defence. Would love Austin, but then I think Nugent would leave.
