sylofox Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 I do think we will get in the players we need. I trust our owners and management to do the job. My problem is we have played our last friendly and any players coming in however good are going to take time to settle. Are we as a club big enough for this to happen. I really think we need to hit the ground running to give ourselves a chance. Do we have the squad for thatand if we do do we need more than one CM?
Soar Fox Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 It's ok David Meyler knows this league so he'll be alright on that front. He'll just need a bit of time gelling in with his new teammates.
Matt Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Ready made excuses. I fear we are not prepared and even if we should get people in at this late stage as I said there are ready made excuses such as 'they need to time gel', 'they havn't settled yet', as you say 'bedding in time' all the cliches and buzzwords will be used if we don't hit the ground running, and tbh it's not good enough, why havn't we been prepared? Oh well, this is what happens when you change your manager half way though the summer. I guess we'll have a general idea whether we are hitting the ground running or not this time next week and believe it or not I hope i'm wrong, I really do, but i'm dreading that start of the season because we are not prepared 1 bit imo.

matty98 Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 If your players suit your system and play the style you are looking for they don't need time too settle in
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 This is fallacy The size of a football club has nothing to do with how a player "beds in"

Ready made complaints It took until the final week of the window last summer to get Esteban, did it take him a while to 'bed in'? Yes, his first start was against United three weeks later he was the joint biggest signing of the window with Ulloa; Simpson, Albrighton, Upson and Hamer being the rest. Buzzwords and cliches would also appear if we dont hit the round running, blood baiters of our fanbase will jump out yet again on here and this forum will be trench warfare full of depression and frustration, either aimed at the owners and management or some event viewed to be controversial. We need to be strong again like last season and hopefully the lads pull us through any potential brown stuff. As for the sacking Pearson situation (that will not be put away with some people), we couldnt have done it at a better time given the circumstances for me - smack bam in the middle of pre-season, players still off and no games to worry about. Whether for the better we will not truly know unless hypothetically either Nigel pops up at a top Prem side and does well or we plummet like a stone within the next year. Its all to be seen, people need to get along with supporting and remember we are a Premier League team now, were getting close to signing players like Aranguiz; its not been better since MoN years and I hope with everything possible Claudio isn't a Taylor. Last bit - nought personal, but I find it funny that alot of posters who have greeted this manager change with fear are some of the same ones that were posting essays on here when we were in the sh** last season, demanding Nigels head. I dont know whether you lot just enjoy moaning or its natural, either way I hate reading page after page of it and rarely post in this section at peak times because the insane torrent of p**s that could swill up from one group of nutters to the next, I'm just usually not a*sed with being ars*d. This old thread makes good reading looking back, I know alot of you dont want to remember, but we came from but here - http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/99830-pearson-out/

But OTT to say we're "not prepared one bit". We have a squad full of players with premiership and other top level experience most of whom have been at the club for at least a year and all of whom have had a full pre-season. How is this "not prepared one bit"? Other than the need for a midfielder which us being addressed were about as prepared as it's possible to be.

When is a good time to change your manager?
