OriginalRobboFOX Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 To be fair prior to kick off I was dubious if Andy King and DD would cut it today. Maybe it was an Esteban hangover, I'm not sure, but I just thought we'd be overrun by Cattermole, Rodwell etc. However, how wrong was I. Kingy looked top drawer and DD showed glimpses of his Championship winning season form. Even towards 70 odd minutes when Kingy normally flags he kept going and looked in great shape. DD pinged a couple of passes round too and they generally worked well together. In the last week I've been saying we need another midfielder and maybe we still do but I was so impressed by them today - even if we played a very average to poor team. I hope that the fact we are missing Esteban both look to kick on and really make names for themselves in the PL.
Sunbury Fox Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Thought DD was superb today. One through pass to Riyadh in the second half was ridiculously good. Kingy did well too but DD was the better of the two. Really liked the look of Kante, think he'll be starting soon.
ALC Fox Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Both were good today and I hope Kante will fit in well too. There's no doubt that both have the attributes to do well at Premier League level. There is a question mark about consistency though. With James injured, I think we need Inler and possibly another before we have real strength in depth in the middle of the park.
ScouseFox Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 i think the fact you thought we'd be overrun by rodwell and cattermole says more about you than any of our midfielders
Benguin Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 That pass to mahrez from drinks was phenomenal! Kante looked good as well
lcfc81 Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 The other crazy thing is that Sunderland started with 3 in the middle. A great performance by both.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 We can't adopt this formation for every game. King and Drinkwater looked ok today but we were playing against a really poor side who were slow across the whole team. For more difficult matches against much better opposition, I'd get Kante in and probably in a central midfield three. King and Drinkwater today were fine. They will need support against quicker, better sides. Sunderland frankly today were awful. Was Rodwell playing? To go from a really good young player to that today is shameful.
Sunbury Fox Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 i think the fact you thought we'd be overrun by rodwell and cattermole says more about you than any of our midfielders Who said that?! Not me!
General Smuts Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 DD played a ball today into Mahrez on the half volley that was so good I had my zip half down before I gathered meself and remembered where I was. Groin grabbingly good.
Jam Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 I concur, I too had the same worries as you but DD and Kingy played very well indeed. The creativity they showed aswell was very pleasing. Roll on next week!

Why do most threads on here nowadays descend into personal attacks rather than good open football debate??
