Gary Neville Sacked By Valencia

Recommended Posts

What are you on? Honestly...

if he gets sacked then he has the security of the job he originally had. He will then wait for clubs to sack their managers and apply for the post. That is why he could not turn down the Valencia job.

You're mental if you think he should have turned down the Valencia job and waited for offers like Port Vale or MK Dons. Nobody said he'd turn into a top class manager by getting the Valencia job. It's another figment of your imagination.

Did you ever see him linked to a managerial job prior to Valencia?

Id suggest he wasnt trying that hard to get into management if this job hadnt landed on his lap.

Must be a figment of my imagination reading your posts saying he would become a top class manager then because he "knew his stuff"

But the scenario you're explaining is totally different.

Gary Neville did not have a management job. It's more like leaving one job where they would always take you back because of your ability for another, completely different job with massive prospects.

I'm sorry Dan, but no person with a shred of ambition turns down the Valencia job. If it was a small club I could see your point. But they are one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Alright then, so he's safe of staying at "square one" in the long-term, but is quite possibly knackering his long-term ambition of managing a top club by sticking with a club he isn't good enough for at the minute.

I think bigger clubs won't forget about this personally. Could be wrong of course but he's not doing himself any favours now. For me he should quit while he can because the fans are against him now.

And if his ambition isn't to be a manager (which actually rings a bell that he said this) then why the bloody hell did he even take this job?

If you can find one post of mine where I've said that then i'd be grateful. Somehow I think you'll find it a bit tough

What does him being "linked" to a job have to do with anything whatsoever? lol

And this hasnt, and wont mean anything until he starts to build a managerial career properly. Its as simple as that.

His punditry means zero. Absolutely zero.

Why is he sitting in a sky studio and not coaching somewhere like Phil Neville? or Kevin Phillips? If hes a talented coach, get involved, get out there and get working with a club.

And not Valencia, a club where you are building for the long term for your skill set and reputation.

He's the assistant manager of England. He did that alongside his job as a pundit.

I imagine that the Valencia job was the first he was offered and he could not believe his luck. But you're out of your mind if you honestly think that he should have rejected the opportunity. This is one of the biggest clubs in the world, in a beautiful City, where your brother and best mate work, on a good salary, doing what you want to do...

There is absolutely no way he as ever going to reject the chance. You're barmy if you think he should have rejected it. Genuinely barmy.

The "linked with a managerial job" and not being linked shows that he wasnt exactly trying to get involved in management.

If he had serious sights on becoming a manager and not sitting in the sky studio, his name would have been out there being linked with jobs. Is that not obvious?

So either he has had offers from lower league clubs and either rejected them all, or they dont think he is suitable, or he has been happy in the sky studio with no management ambition.

He isnt the England assistant manager either, Ray Lewington is. He works with players who dont need any coaching for 2 days every three months. As much as anything hes there to be a figurehead within the camp.

And youve stated many times you think he will be an excellent manager. You havent used the word "top" ill grant you, if you want to be pedantic about it.

1) That's a different can of worms. If he leaves Valencia and then goes on to build a career like Donut thinks you "should" by going into the lower league and spending a lot of time and effort to work your way up then nobody will think "yeah but 10 years ago in his first job in management he was shit when he inherited a poor squad at a big club".

2) I'd quit if I were him. Purely because he's got good prospects here in England and he's endangering those.

3) He said he wanted the opportunity. Which reinforces the idea that he'd be mad to turn it down rather than going through all the shit leagues trying to build yourself to be something you don't want to be.

I admitted that I thought he'd be successful and that I was wrong. This conversation has nothing to do with that.

Anyway, still awaiting your admission of idiocy regarding Cambiasso.

1) Well, hes taken a decent squad and managed to knock them out of every competition they were involved in, and sent them even further down the league. So your idea of a poor squad at a big club isnt very accurate.

2) Comes back to my previous post that if hed have got involved with a good prospect in England, we wouldnt be having this debate, and

3) "Trying to be something you dont want to be". So does he want to be a manager or not? Wants to be a manager if a rich owner who you happen to know puts a wholly unsuitable job in your lap, but dont want to be a manager to build a solid reputation and climb a natural career progression if it involves ground work first? This is a very confusing quote you made.

No it does not. Don't be so dim for Christ's sake.

He was assistant manager for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Euro qualifying.

I do think Gary Neville will become an excellent manager. I think he'll be a Premier League manager within the next 7/8 years if he wants to continue as a manager.

I suggest there are now quite a few people who thought I may have had a point. Not over Lee Cattermole. I've said that was a bad shout, ages ago, in fact. But your continuous love in of a certain player, with not even any discussion on the basis of such infatuation is becoming as ridiculous as some of your posts in this thread. And have you really NOTHING to counter any criticism I might make of your posts other than banging on about Lee bloody Cattermole. A post I made even before Cambiasso joined. As in, nearly two years ago.

You've become a parody of yourself in this thread and should stop. Neville has been unwise.

1) He took over Valencia when they were in 9th position. You're joking if you think that that is a good Valencia squad..

2) BUT YOU DON'T TURN DOWN THESE OPPORTUNITIES FFS.

3) He's been in the media to say that he doesn't see his long term future in management. Do some research for crying out loud. If he doesn't want to be a manager in the distant future but wants an opportunity then why on Earth would he turn down the opportunity to manage Valencia?

He either had no ambition to become a club manager till his rich pal called him, or he was holding out to manage England i suppose

You can't take any criticism on board yourself yet continually dish it out.

You're utterly pathetic and you're the first person i'm putting onto ignore.

Neville did what any sane person would do and that is take one of the best jobs going in football.

1) Well, however good it is, hes made it a lot worse. Undeniable fact.

2) It seems like everyone but you has made a more than convincing case that, yes, you absolutely can.

3) If he doesnt see his long term future in management then this is all a waste of time then. Why bother? its not going to lead to anything anyway.

What the **** are you smoking? Seriously...

He said he wanted the opportunity to manage a football club so he took one of the best jobs going.

Get a grip and swallow your pride for crying out loud.

Good idea. Hold out till your rich friend does an inside job and gives you the job lol

There were plenty of opportunities to manage football clubs. Plenty.

Sorry, but are you actually okay?

You're not taking anything i'm saying and you're just blurting the same things back at me. You're not making any sense. Gary Neville would have been silly to turn down the best management job in football when he wanted the opportunity to manage a football club.

For the sake of my evening, i'm going to let you carry on by yourself lol

You're arguing for arguments sake if you believe that he was being offered jobs akin to Valencia.

So has Gary Neville made Valencia worse? Yes

Were there other opportunities to manage clubs that he didnt apply for, and has he made an attempt to build a career? No.

Does he see any value in building a long term career? No. He said his future isnt in management.

All seems to make sense to me, but there you go.

Night night.

Failed gamble for both him and the club. Bad move all-round. Hope for his own sake a line is drawn under it and he starts in the lower leagues.

Villa would be another mis-informed decision.
