Gary Neville Sacked By Valencia

Everyone was saying he's a great appointment he'll be a good manager as he's a good pundit. I was saying all along? When has a pundit ever made a good manager? And it's his first manager job.... In a different country.... It was never going to work out!

And to think he is the current favourite for the next England manager...

'Everyone'?

And people saying his career is finished already lol

Shall we have another look at the bag of wank that Claudio was for the last few years before he came here?

I don't even understand the comparison, Claudio was a vastly experienced manager who was always going to find a job. Neville is a rookie and is doing an horrendous job with quite a good Valencia side. It'd be passable if he was doing averagely bad, but he's actually sucking Valencia into a relegation dogfight. It's safe to say he probably won't return to club management after this.

Or if Kate Upton approached you looking for a long-term sex partner you'd say "nah mate, i need to do my time with the gremlin next door"

lol. Course not. I'd be balls deep in that. And thats what neville has done.

Strange appointment but cant fault a guy for taking an opportunity.

lol at everyone saying you should turn down a fantastic opportunity for a shit one somewhere.

So if you got offered a £100,000 a year job at an exciting and innovative company doing interesting work, you'd turn it down because you haven't learnt your trade yet and you want to work at £6.50 an hour for another year?

Or if Kate Upton approached you looking for a long-term sex partner you'd say "nah mate, i need to do my time with the gremlin next door"

What a ****ing stupid mentality.

The opportunity was there. He went for it. Good on the guy. So it hasn't worked out perfectly, that doesn't mean he should have spent nine years at Accrington Stanley just to have a second round JPT win on his CV.

It's alright earning £100k a year but... not really if you're clearly out of your depth to the extent you'll last about two months.

I can understand this kind of argument when you get the usual "Y DIDNT GUARDIOLA TAKE OVER YORK CITY RATHER THAN BAYERN TO PROVE HE ISNT A FRAUD TO @the_mata_pass ON TWITTER" but he was never going to command the respect of the players when he clearly hasn't got the job because of his managerial ability.

I'm all for taking the odd chance but this was just plain silly from Valencia. They are in serious relegation danger. Valencia!!!

That's an awful shout as well. It was one bad job (and it was worse than bad too) but that's going well overboard.

Literally click onto page one and tell me if you still think that. It was a ridiculous appointment.

Someone thought that...

A good pundit a good manager don't necessarily make.

He's not nesc a bad manager just because he has struggled initially in a very small amount of time, In Spain, in a job that totally doesn't suit him.

Many a world class manager has had terrible time at one club or another.

Posted

He's aged 3 or 4 years in a few weeks there, that's scary. Shows the pressure managers are under

He's moved his entire family to follow a job that he's likely to lose after 8 weeks or whatever it's been.

I know i'd look a damn sight worse.

Fancy them to to try and grind out a 0-0 against a surely weakened Barca side tonight.

Barcelona have literally nowt to play for.

Can see this being a 2-2 or summat.

Good job nobody thought he'd become a good manager because of his punditry isn't it?

Funny how you didn't stick your neck out and tell me I was wrong before he'd managed a game and how you call people out on bad predictions despite the fact you whinge every time anyone mentions Cattermole and every single one of your posts starts with "I actually said this would happen a few months ago". Moron.

I think most people did think he would be a good manager because of the punditry to be fair.

Dont know why youre making a blanket statement on everyones behalf that punditry wasnt a part of their thinking.

Maybe not yours but youre speaking for everyone. It can be seen for a fact across the internet people have made reference to his punditry.

OK then. .1-1

1-1 against Barca reserves, Valencia were winning up to 84 minutes as well.

To be fair, the Barca team they put out still had some top names in and was hardly shit (7 first XI players with 1st team experience). On the flip side, Neville had to field an understrength, young side too and started with a young lad up front with Negredo who should have been playing with the U19s against Celtic.

Negredo really is shite though lol
