TheUltimateWinner Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 BREAKING: Gary Neville has been appointed as Head Coach of Valencia until the end of the season. More on #SSNHQ
Soar Fox Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 I'll miss him on sky sports. My favourite pundit.
Babylon Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Valencia are owned by Peter Lim, the billionaire who, along with 5 former Man Utd millionaires, owns Salford, so already Neville's business partner.
Guest MattP Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Respect him for taking the chance though to try and prove himself. I think like most pundits he'll struggle in management though.
Soar Fox Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Will he still be involved in the England manager setup?

tom27111 Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 If he's anywhere near as good as he is as a pundit, I hope he does well and gets the England job after the Euro's. Despised him as a player, but impressed by him since.
Fox92 Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Hope he does well. He is by far the best pundit (along with Carragher) and certainly knows his stuff. I hope he does well and then gets into management in England.
Guest Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Not a bad first managerial job. Think he'd have done better starting in the non-league - perhaps even Salford - and learning the trade a little before moving into a "top" european side.
lcfcsnow Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 How's he going to get his points/tactics across, does he speak spanish? Please don't let this mean more Niall Quinn.
Sampson Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Disgraceful appointment. Might even top Hockaday as the most insane appointment. A guy with no managerial experience and no association with the club and who can't even speak the language walks into a top 4 Spanish side because he's mates with the new owner? And people moan about English managers not being given a chance at top English clubs because of foreigners - well at least they have experience rather than an absolute nobody in footballing management terms. If this wasn't an Englishman people would be slating the hell out of this. If I was a Valencia fan I'd fee utterly sick with that appointment and that the owner is just handing out jobs to his mates who are absolute nobodies in both football management and Spanish football terms.

How do you know he can't speak Spanish? We've had plenty of no mark, linguistically challenged jokers rock up and try and manage English clubs, about time one of ours got a chance abroad.
Fox92 Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 He might be able to speak Spanish. And isn't Phil Neville there anyway? He seems to have got on well.

I do agree, apart from the needless inclusion of nationality. If I were a Valencia fan I'd at least be relieved that he's essentially just interim till next season, they've been awful this year so they're not finishing top 4. Not as if he's been given a 6 year contract and dubbed the messiah. It's more Sherwood-esque than Hockaday.

We've had plenty of no mark, linguistically challenged jokers rock up and try and manage English clubs, about time one of ours got a chance abroad. Have you not seen his infamous tweets to his brother's notoriously bad Spanish? And every foreign manager who's come to England has had success abroad beforehand and certainly anyone who has come to a top English side has had plenty of success abroad. Neville has literally nothing and is hired because he knows the chairman. It's far beyond and foreign manager who's managed at a top English side. It's just insane. If I was a Valencia fan I'd feel sick that the new owner is giving absolute nobodies in footballing management terms a job because they're his mate.
Vindaloo FOX Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 I rate Gary Neville, can see him being England manager one day .
Fox92 Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 I rate Gary Neville, can see him being England manager one day . I hope he does well at Valencia, comes back over here and one day manages England.
Sampson Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 I rate Gary Neville, can see him being England manager one day . You can see him being England manager based on what exactly? He's never managed a professional game of football in his entire life before. Feck me, England would be in a sorry state of affairs if they picked their managers on their punditry.
