ISP broadband and phone

Been looking around online for a decent ISP.

Was looking at BT or PlusNet but have seen a fair few complaints about their customer care :dunno: .

A newish company called Cloudscape Connect looks interesting but I wanted to see what peeps here used and how they rate them.

Obviously TalkTalk  , that steaming pile of crap   should not get any mentions.

Plus Net messed up our setup a bit but sorted it all with a quick phone call. Good broadband shouldn't need you to call the customs centre often. I would focus more on speed and price.

Plusnet are BT owned if i remember correctly..... and stay as ****ing far away from talktalk as possibly can, shocking company and have been for about 15 years, i recommend Virgin myself... Fast speeds, no real problems with limits either, never really had line problems with them... be careful with some companies they have very shitty limits on their accounts, especially sky unless you go with sky unlimited, some accounts can have a paltry 2GB limit which i can break in less then 5 minutes :D

I have been with Virgin a few  years. I have the combined package. TV,Phone and  broadband. What is annoying is the price. It is going up around £3.50 in January making it around £54 a month. The thing is if I dropped one of them they would charge more for them individually. A new customer gets special deals. They tell me they are the best deal overall but they still put the fecking bill up. I only have the basic M TV package too. 100 plus channels and majority I will never watch or duplicates +1hr etc. It would be nice to choose which channels I have.

I work for them, give them a call and say you're considering your options. Just call once a year and tell your service providers you're shopping around, it's a few phone calls a year and it could save you loads. Discounts always expire so if you're not proactive your price is going to creep up.

I have never understood the thing about new customers, everyone was a new customer at some point and 99% would have got a fantastic deal for 12 months, if you're going to moan about it then go and do something about it and switch providers every year, otherwise stop going on because you got that deal yourself about 2 years ago.

Well I like talktalk and they've just given me skysports free for 3 months as well.

Same here.

Been with them for about 10 years and never an issue...might be lucky but there you go

Wouldn't touch Virgin with a bargepole. Had abysmal service from them in the past. Would rather have no phone /TV or broadband than use those clowns.

I'm with BT currently. No real problems and the only issue I did have was dealt with swiftly with no fuss.

Price creeps up but I think they all do that, plus each year I have more and more devices connected which means changing to save a couple of quid a month is not very appealing as I can't be arsed with reconnecting all the laptops, phones, TV boxes, ipads, consoles, weather station and all the other crap connected to it!

Just moved house. Binned off TalkTalk and gone to Plusnet.

Seemed like the best deal when I looked, plus they have UK-based customer services.

Still waiting for it to be installed, obviously, so currently living in the dark ages with no internet. Very annoying.

I was with Tiscali which was taken over by TalkTalk and their customer services are so bad it is not even worth listing stuff.

Why I'm looking around, after the hacking scandal it took me up until Xmas for their dire customer services to sort out me being able to access my account, which apparently affected quite a few peeps looking at their Facebook page.

They just got around issues with their customers by ignoring them until you contacted the ISPA and Ombudsman.

never had problems with virgin, we broke the router and they came an gave us a new one, never any internet hassles.

we have sky tv* but the phone and internet are with virgin.

*currently £50 per month with sports and movies.

Id like to go full virgin :xmaslaugh:  and still have sky sports/movies but how would the price compare?

grown attached to the sky plus box so is virgins tivo basically the same thing/would it still be compatible with the sky channels?

You get a lot of Sky channels, have a look on the website to have a look through the channel list.

If you're quick (as in it expires at the end of December) there's a great offer on sky sports/movies at the moment. You can get everything (inc TiVo + 200mb broadband) for about £70/75 for 9 months. It'll go up after that but you can just call whenever the deal ends and renegotiate another one

This was a mistake.

Ordered broadband with Plusnet on 16th December; still waiting.

Absolutely piss poor.

Do not use them.

Virgin have upped the speed  to 70. Well I have applied for it, just have to wait for it to be done.

They may be more expensive than some 'deals' but  they are reliable. I am wary of the deals because there are hidden costs. Cheap for 6 months but tied to a contract after at a higher cost.
