UPinCarolina Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Don't the gate receipts from most testimonials at the higher levels of the game these days go to charities? I believe so.
bluebeau Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 I believe so. If that's correct then I have changed my mind.
Captain... Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Call me whatever you want but I am not a supporter of testimonials for these over-paid over-priced footballers! It must be hard going trying to survive on £30k to £100k a week! I am not necessarily referring to Kingy. I am a true City supporter but I just don't agree with testimonials except in certain cases such as a player having to retire early due to injury or illness. Did the guy Clarke that suffered a heart attack when we were playing at Forest get a testimonial? I know he hadn't been with us very long but he should have got one if he didn't. It's hard to know with a player like King who has been with one club his entire career mainly out of the top flight, and not being a superstar how much he has earned and what his projected earnings will be. No disrespect to King, but if he left Leicester in the Summer he would probably end up at a Championship side. Anyway regardless of the money side of things if you were organising a testimonial for Andy King this summer (or next no Euros and 10 years since his debut) which players would you invite/how would you set it up. LCFC Championship winning (invite back Knocky, Lloyd, Nuge, Phillips, Hammond etc) vs best of the rest LCFC XI (Fryatt, Howard, Hobbs, Waghorn, Berner, Gradel, Oakley etc) LCFC XI vs Wales XI (Ramsey, Bale etc) Who would you get in to manage? Pearson XI vs Sven XI
ramboacdc Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 King was offered his first professional contract with Leicester on 5 May 2007. another year yet!
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 I love Kingy. Composure on the ball, tracks back to help the defence, goes forward with the attacks, distributes the ball around well, he always plays consistently very good. Favourite player for me alongside a few others.
Freesolo Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Only testimonial i have ever been to was Steve walsh back in 95, remember Gazza Seamen and some other great players turning up. I always thought a testimonial was like a send off and the player got all the proceeds from the gate money because they never made as much money in the 70s 80s and early 90s

LAprice_ Posted 6 February 2016 Posted 6 February 2016 I've tried to make this as realistic as possible; I would love to see some of these players, just for old times sake: TEAM 1 Manager: Ranieri Henderson - (He was on the bench for King's first ever game, sadly, the keeper who started that game, Marton Fulop, is no longer with us) Naughton - We've not had loads of RBs over the years, he's one that stands out Hobbs - Pretty consistent and well-liked Tunchev - Was the greatest centre back in the universe for a few weeks before injuries made him a forgotten man. Fans favourite. Berner - To quote another left-back, this man is "simply cool" Oakley - Massively underrated player. We had him when he was past his best and yet he was still very important for us. Still playing today. King Andy (Captain) - I think he deserves a place in the team. Yuki Abe - We all miss him. Gallagher - We might be better than him now but there was a time when Gallagher was the most exciting player in our squad. Nugent - For the smiles. Lloyd Dyer - Miss him. TEAM 2: Manager: Pearson Logan - Might as well Morrison - Promising young defender who left in search of first team football. Now highly regarded in the Championship. McCauley - One of the few players to get relegated with us and still hold his head high. Well, slightly higher than most. Vitor - This guy was only here on loan but he was a very, very talented defender. Konchesky - People can say what they want about him but he's the first LB we've had in years to hold the position for more than a season. Gradel - The one that got away Wesolowski - Could've gone on to great things if he wasn't glued together with a cheap glue-stick Cambiasso - Yeah, he's probably good enough. Lloyd Dyer (Captain) - Cambiasso would probably give the armband away. Dyer was overjoyed when he was made captain for the Carlisle game a few years back. Legend. Knockaert - Miss him. Fryatt - One of the most important players in this squad during a time when we didn't have that many. I know I've missed out names but I can't include everyone. Shout outs to Weale, Bamba, Wellens, Hume, Fernandes, Davies, Adams, Waghorn, Howard and Cleverley.

LAprice_ Posted 6 February 2016 Posted 6 February 2016 Lloyd Dyer playing for one team and captaining the other! Whoops didn't realise. Well spotted! I'd edit it but I actually think he's quick enough to be in two places at once so y'know...
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 6 February 2016 Posted 6 February 2016 Whoops didn't realise. Well spotted! I'd edit it but I actually think he's quick enough to be in two places at once so y'know... How Muzzi can't get a game in either side is beyond me!
