Claridge Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 It will not change The King power was designed to copy the layout of filbert street, the away fans was supposed to be in the same place as filbert street in between the east and south stand but the police wouldn't allow that to happen for reasons already pointed out on this thread hence why they are in the opposite corner The away fans used to be located where they are now at Filbert street. Remember an FA cup game against Sheff utd when they invaded the pitch .3-0 but i can't remember who too?
foxinsox Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 The away fans and family stand have the sun in their eyes most of the year. The existing Kop is in a better site.
jammie82uk Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Please close this thread. I met with the club prior to the 2007/8 season after an online petition I started got quite a lot of signatures and I had an article published in the Mercury. It will never happen because of health and safety. The away fans are housed there, like a poster above stated, as it's easy to get them in and out of the ground, then back to the train station easily. There are also cells under the corner to help detain any trouble makers - I was told. There were a few other reasons too but I can't remember them off the top of my head, but the club will never change this. you are right there is cells underneath the corner but they are under the corner between the east stand and south stand

Remember an FA cup game against Sheff utd when they invaded the pitch .3-0 but i can't remember who too? unless it changed, i can only remember the away fans sitting in the east stand end that was right next to the kop at filbert street which would be the east stand/south stand corner at the king power
AndWhat? Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 you are right there is cells underneath the corner but they are under the corner between the east stand and south stand Pretty sure there isn't. That's where the grounds men keep all their stuff unless it changed, i can only remember the away fans sitting in the east stand end that was right next to the kop at filbert street which would be the east stand/south stand corner at the king power They used to be in Pen 1 in the kop.

Remember an FA cup game against Sheff utd when they invaded the pitch .3-0 but i can't remember who too? Yes I only found this out a few years ago. But they used to be in between the east stand and family end. In the little corner that became the Supporters club section in later life at filbert st. Had seats to the front and standing to rear.
jammie82uk Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Pretty sure they aren't. well unless they have moved they certainly was when I worked there
Danizen Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 The away fans and family stand have the sun in their eyes most of the year. The existing Kop is in a better site. You don't want to be in the top few rows of the Kop when it's sunny. It's like an oven. It was even worse during the Sunderland game when the banner kept falling down, letting the sun in. I was absolutely melting.

Bayfox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 well unless they have moved they certainly was when I worked there Really? I worked at the ground when it was the walkers, as far as I know the corner between the east stand and south stand, has storage in the tunnel area, for the grounds man to store, the spare goals, his mowers etc, and the cells are in the opposite tunnel under the away fans, as it is more likely they are going to have to arrest, away fans, or people either side, would make no sense to have to walk them along the side of the pitch to the other end, or around the outside of the ground, and they are highly unlikely to walk them along the concourse now aren't they. I have never known anyone mention them being in the south stand corner before. I would be generally impressed if you're right.

Unless they have indeed moved them (and I wouldn't see why they would) they are under the away section. One of the reasons given against moving the kop anyway. Away section was put where it is on police advise i seem to remember, something about getting fans away easily.

Honestly they was there I worked at Filbert street and then obviously at the walkers when they moved we was given a tour around the place, it wasn't finished by that point as the builders was still there, we was told the away fans would be in the east/south stand corner and we was shown the holding cells
