Guest ttfn Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 I think he's a marvellous striker. Doesn't mean I have to like him. He couldn't be more like Alan Shearer if he tried. He's like 1998 Shearer, when his pace had gone after the knee injury. Not that Kane's slow but people forget that the young Shearer who scored 30+ in 3 straight seasons in the early-mid 90s was not a target man, he was pretty quick and just happened to be good in the air. Probably had a legitimate claim at being one of the top 4/5 strikers in the world from 93-96 which given that he clashed with peak Weah, Romario, Batistuta and Stoichkov among others is testament to how good (I think) he was.

I wasn't really into football when he was at the peak of his powers and I'm always surprised that there's not more made of his goal scoring achievements, if you didn't know about his career you'd think he was a decent but unremarkable striker based on the perception in the media.

Just look at how far ahead he is of everybody else in the all time PL scoring charts. Great striker.
Corky Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 And he suffered two horrible injuries in his career and managed to change his game and still remain prolific.

Danno Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Take out dier for firmino actually, has same stats as payet and has played 500 mins less.
tripe Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Was thinking about this this morning, don't know why. De Gea Bellerin Alderweireld Morgan Rose/Cresswell Mahrez Kante Alli Payet Kane Vardy Can't see past that at this stage, my only doubt is Cresswell or Rose.
