Górnik Leicester Posted 24 March 2016 Posted 24 March 2016 One of my favourite atmospheres at the KP was the day we collected the Championship trophy against Doncaster. They were singing "you are going up" to us, and in reply we sang "you are staying up" - right until Birmingham went and ruined it. That was possibly the only time I'd ever been remotely disappointed at a Leicester goal.

That was possibly the only time I'd ever been remotely disappointed at a Leicester goal. Being Italian, it sounds like something close to science fiction to me. When they play against a team which is at risk of relegation, fans usually sing things like "Tanto già lo so che l'anno prossimo giochi di sabato" ("I already know that next year you'll play on Saturdays"), because in Italy Serie B sides play on Saturdays. Sorry for the OT.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 March 2016 Posted 24 March 2016 Old? Became mired in cynicism about the state of the game? Newly excited? DT in 'buying self a coffee' shock-more updates as they happen...
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 March 2016 Posted 24 March 2016 he seen you coming DT. Did he tell you where he was going for his steak lunch lol Oh bugger! Conned, eh?
Zabbasbeard_MCFC Posted 24 March 2016 Posted 24 March 2016 The 3.0 win vs Naaawich my first game... I was in the east stand... Weller in his tights....I was about 7/8 yrs old... C'mon Leicester!!!!!!!!! Remember it like it was yesterday. A big cold snap cancelled just about every game barring yours due to the hot air balloon. Your young struggling side effectively did a "giant killing" beating 1st Division opponents - though obviously you're probably about the same size if not bigger than Naarge. Just a great story.- was Lineker breaking through around that time?

I think it was the following season Lineker made his debut.. can't remember without googling it.. think he made his debut vs Oldham..
Hubert Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 They are all singing about us. Arsenal nicked Chelsea's we all follow the Chelsea over land and sea and Leicester chant the game after they beat us, that was probably the last time they sang it is as United beat them as did Swansea and they're now so far adrift they've probably accepted the game is all but up. Seriously?
Voll Blau Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Seriously? No. Arsenal actually sang it first in the 70s according to a Chelsea guy I know. Chelsea just popularised it.
LanguedocFox Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 I continue to find the (worldwide) fascination with City quite surreal - but enjoyable for all that. I'm more used to us being under the radar, surfacing occasionally as "plucky little Leicester" when we have our once-in-a-lifetime win over Man U or Arsenal. Talking of which, I suppose it all started to change with that 5-3 win over Man U which gave us global recognition, just for a week or so. I have a German friend who lives down here, fan of Schalke 04, and earlier on in the season, when we started to get noticed, he said "Leicester City? Who beat Manchester United?" Now he tells all his mates that he knows a real Leicester City fan. Bizarre.
digitalalba Posted 28 March 2016 Author Posted 28 March 2016 I was in Costa yesterday, in my City shirt, when this old chap, who was in his eighties spoke to me. He said he had lost interest in the game many years ago, because it was always the big money teams who achieved. However, this season has got him very excited, and he is praying for us to shock the world of football. I bought him a coffee for that. You've gotta watch scammers these days, cupa coffee one day, your bank details the next
digitalalba Posted 28 March 2016 Author Posted 28 March 2016 There must be about 93 out of the 96 teams in the Football League supporting us now. That amounts to roughly 96% of all professional football teams in England and Wales. But let's not allow the two sour spoilsports from the capital to meddle with us. There's only 92, and the three would be spurs, arsenal and man city, but you missed out derby, f****t and coventry. 86 supporting aint bad.
digitalalba Posted 28 March 2016 Author Posted 28 March 2016 As you can guess from my profile picture I'm a Juventus fan but, as almost every football fan in Italy in these months, I'm supporting LCFC. That's obviously because of Ranieri: though he managed several high-level teams in Italy (Juventus, Inter, Roma, Fiorentina), he's well-liked by everyone (with the exception of Lazio fans, probably). He achieved some good results almost everywhere, but what he's doing at LCFC is unbelievable. Fairy tales sometimes become true. I must admit that, despite being a fan of one of the most succesful teams in football history, I'm envying you: I really can't imagine how it feels to be so close to the victory of a lifetime, but I'm sure it must feel veeeeeery good Let's go, Foxes! It's not all Ranieri's doing, his predocessor Nigel Pearson must take half the credit. He brought 7 of our first choice 11 to the club, and our backroom staff.
Ashley Posted 28 March 2016 Posted 28 March 2016 So many people coming up to me and the others I was with in Berlin for England game saying I hope you win it. Even a Tottenham couple

Some say that we're insignificant to the 2 East Midland Championship sides, I say jealousy is a cruel mistress
Guy Posted 28 March 2016 Posted 28 March 2016 I cover up my Leicester top when I put it on after a gym session and shower when in changing rooms now (at the gym I go to where I live in Plymouth for e.g.) to avoid hassle from all the neutrals here, even if it's positive! Going to watch us on Sky in a bar here has become tough now too - it's like being a celebrity now, being a Leicester fan in these parts!

"Celebrity" is the best way to put it, good with the bad though
lev72 Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 I took the family skeggy yesterday and had my Leicester tracksuit top on, there were man utd, chesterfield, sheff utd and even forest fans aswell as the locals in the marina pub, not omly wishing we win the title but saying we will. Took the kids to the fare and two chaps working one of the rides commented on how they love watching us play. My top never came off even when we went to the beach and the sun had a stint out.Gotta admit i loved it.....can't wait for sunday to come round.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 Sat next to a Southampton fan at Wembley he said I hope we lose to Leicester I couldn't believe what I was hearing
Nevamind Posted 31 March 2016 Posted 31 March 2016 Chelsea fan here. Followed your team and froum since the start of the season because of Christian Fuchs. Not only smaller teams like what your team had achieved. Because of Ranieri there is a great sympathy for Leicester.at Chelsea but not only because of that. In the shed end forum there are threads about the "leicester story" and so on and if CFC draw lose or win many write something like "at least Leicester won today". Also because you can stop Tottenham and Arsenal from getting the titel. hope my english is good enough .
digitalalba Posted 1 April 2016 Author Posted 1 April 2016 It would be one of those football ironies should we lift the trophy at Stamford Bridge, you being the previous Champions and Ranieri.

Plus how many fans actually hate Spurs all over the country. Anyway, see you in May.
OUFCTony Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Sorry to add to the chorus of support from other clubs, which I can guess is probably getting deeply annoying..... But as an Oxford United fan, I wanted to say thank you for making top level football interesting again for the first time in a couple of decades. Don't get me wrong - I will always love my club, and will always enjoy lower league football (though I wouldn't say no to a few years in the Championship at some point in the future). But the Premier League has been so tedious for so long - dominated by the same old big clubs, with no one else getting even a look-in unless they're the plaything of an oligarch or oil sheikh (which is no better) - that I'd just about stopped watching. Chelsea/Arsenal/Man City/Man Utd.....I couldn't care less who won. And there was never any sign of it changing. But whatever happens now, your lot (with a bit of an assist from Spurs & West Ham) have made the Premier League compelling viewing again. You've shown it can be done without spending silly money. You've raised the bar for what all clubs in the country can hope to achieve. Basically you've made me want to spend my Sundays watching football again (so my wife doesn't thank you for that). And - even better - next season there's going to be a reason to watch the Champions League as well. A team that I actually want to win games! So thank you for all that, and best of luck for the rest of the season. (although I won't be watching you this Sunday - we've got a date at Wembley in the JPT......)

He brought 7 of our first choice 11 to the club, and our backroom staff. I think Pearson brought nine (arguably ten) of our first-choice 11 to the club (plus the backroom staff, the technology and the set-up). Schmeichel was signed by Eriksson (or, more accurately, disposed-of by Leeds). Kante signed after Pearson left, but had been on the club's hit-list for six months before that, and Ranieri has said that he didn't want to sign him (and later told Steve Walsh to ignore him in future!)
