stevelcfc Posted 2 May 2016 Posted 2 May 2016 Leicester City Women team have won a league title. Winning 20 out of 20.
sharpylcfc Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Right now we do have to be considered the sporting capital in my opinion.
MrSpaM Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 I honestly can't think of another town in England who would deserve it this year

Finnaldo Posted 5 May 2016 Posted 5 May 2016 Nottingham got voted the sporting capital recently based on not just the professional teams but all local sporting facilities which Leicester have slowly been dismantling, St Margarets Baths, Velodrome to name but two.on Facilities should take a back seat at most when it comes to Sporting Capital. Definitely important but surely that should just be a Community Sports Award. How much money is invested really has nothing to do with sporting achievement. Based on sporting achievement, a City that has a population of 330,000 and is the tenth biggest in the UK has Football's Champions of England, Rugby's multi-time Champions of England (could be again this season) and twice European Champions , a cricket team who although shite in recent years, on early form could look to be back in Division 1 of the County Championship, British Basketball League's Champions and Trophy winners, potential Play-Off winners and Cup runners-up, and a competitive Speedway team. And that's not factoring in the women's football, hockey and netball. On sporting achievements and the variety of professional sports clubs alone we could be contenders, surely if you factor in the context/size of the city it's even better.

Still hold the record for the most title wins in the most modern form of the game.
Corky Posted 5 May 2016 Posted 5 May 2016 In the last 20 years the city has provided top level champions in football, rugby union, cricket, snooker and basketball.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 5 May 2016 Posted 5 May 2016 Would be good to create a new statue in the town that includes/shows all the sporting achievements and recognised success we've had. There already is one in town I know, but it would be great to add another especially given what LCFC have just done.

There already is one in town I know, but it would be great to add another especially given what LCFC have just done. A central sculpture of Raneiri and Pearson sparring, circled by the full squad of players all being felated by Thai hookers with a hunched King Richard holding up a sign advertising King Power duty free. We could put it in the middle of the Shires or in place of the fountain outside the Town Hall?
