davieG Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Feint Stutter More fifa vids than anything else in these searches Not a lot of difference then so why is one ok and the other bookable. They should go back to a simple run up and shoot.
RowlattsFox Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Thought they would discuss handball interpretation more, seemed to be lots of debatable decisions regarding hand ball this season. Also would like to see some common sense with the 'last man' rule. Shouldn't always be a straight red if there has been a genuine attempt to win the ball. Especially if it's in the area, a red card and a penalty is a double punishment.

Especially if it's in the area, a red card and a penalty is a double punishment. They probably are discussing it. The above are just official changes that have been approved. As for the last man. The rule is 'denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity'. And they have changed it. If it's in the area and the foul came as a result of attempting to play the ball, then the player will only get a yellow. I presume if the 'defender' pulls a player's shirt while through on goal, he'll get sent off. As opposed to a slide tackle narrowly missing the ball and bringing the player down it'll be a yellow.

Especially if it's in the area, a red card and a penalty is a double punishment. They've applied common sense, as much as they can, with that. It's still the same for handball, pulling/pushing and for challenges which, in the opinion of the referee, had no realistic chance of winning the ball. If it's simply mistimed / last ditch effort to get the ball and it's a penalty then only a yellow card is issued. If it's outside the area then it's free kick and red card. Now more discussion etc. over interpretation of when a tackle was mistimed or when it was deliberate attempt to bring the player down They probably are discussing it. purpleronnie Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Gonna be weird not having two players taking a kick off. I assume 2 players can still be at the kick off as long as one isnt standing in the oppositions half. But if they can't stand in the oppositions half why would you kick it forward from kick off?

foxes_rule1978 Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 The hand ball on line thing, is the best change, makes perfect sense. So hopefully it comes in
AyewJoking Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 so basically the old rule said the ball has to go forward at kick off and the new rule says it cannot go forward. with regards to other changes it wouldnt surprise me if the refs themselves dont know these changes or more likely forget them leading to yet more controversy (which is probably mission accomplished for IFAB)

AyewJoking Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 No the new rule says it can go in any direction oh ok, but if there is just one player kicking off it cant possibly go forward? well it can but youd either be giving it to the opposition or playing a ball for a team mate to run onto

AyewJoking Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Or having a shot at goal oh ok so it doesnt have to be touch by two players of the same team? can you just take a ten yard run up and try to score with literally the first kick of the game? DB11 i aint taking the piss, just trying to get my head around it
davieG Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 We usually take one touch then boot it out to the wing where Vardy has sprinted so I guess we could just boot it there with the first touch over the defenders head hoping Vardy gets to it before the defender who would have to turn and pick up speed.

Although a drop ball does now have to be touched by two players of the same team before a goal is scored - a player cannot take control of a dropped ball and dribble round everyone and then score (although the player can take as many touches as he wants, unlike a free kick/throw in/corner, it must touch someone else before a goal can be awarded). Previously a goal could be scored direct from a drop ball.
