HighPeakFox Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 Why does every new transfer gossip player who happens to be a winger always end up being at least 50% albrighton related in the thread I would suggest that the donning of Scapegoat Spectacles is too hard to resist for some..........
Koke Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 I'm not scape goating Albrighton. He's done very well for us and done exactly what he's been asked of him. He's a reliable player and always gives 100%. He is James Milner 2.0. We do need someone who's more of a goal threat, whether that's Kostic or not I don't know. Albrighton went 8 months without a goal, which put heavy load on Mahrez and Vardy. That's why we also need an upgrade on Okazaki. Doesn't mean I'm insulting him. I appreciate his efforts this season but we can't have a starting striker with 5 goals and 1 assist all season and comes of after an hour every game.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 Yes, looks excellent. If he were to come, I'd be pretty happy with our wide options - Mahrez, Schlupp, Albrighton, Gray, Kostić and possibly Dyer. Although we might need maybe one more winger perhaps, depends who stays or moves on. Good that this chap can play at least three positions.
Koke Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 This the same Albrighton that finished 24th in the Sky Sports power ranking table, ahead of Toure, De Bruyne, Ramsey and Fabregas, to name a few? And the same Albrighton who has scored 2 goals in 40 games, both goals being the 4th in 4 goal thrashings against shocking opposition. I like Albrighton. There will games next season where I'd want him to start because of the role he plays.Bit lets be honest about where we need to strengthen.
FireFox Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 We should replace Drinky and Kante because they don't score enough goals.
Koke Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 We should replace Drinky and Kante because they don't score enough goals. Yeah let's go into next season with the same eleven that finished this season because of sentimentality. Let's continue with a starting striker who's got 5 goals and 1 assist in 36 appearances, and is always subbed off at the hour mark. I like how Albrighton and Okazaki has suddenly turned into world class

Koke Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 didn't vardy only get 5 goals last season He did. Do you wanna start next season with Okazaki as our main striker along side Vardy? Ric Flair summed it up well after the Chelsea game. Okazaki can go if we get a half decent fee for him, he's just not good enough consistently. Ok, he does some donkey work but we are better than that. Gray was our best outfield player first half and he gets subbed for that hillman? Not been impressed this season by Shinji, probably our poorest player whose played regularly. Decent point and a great goal by Drinkwater who deserves that. Hopefully it gets him in the Euro squad.
artursteppe Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 I actually think that Ranieri was telling the truth when he stated that he wanted his players to stay if they want to. I actually think we will add to the current squad. I actually think we will keep Vardy, Ulloa and Okazaki and maybe Kramaric as well. Of course Kramaric of those would be the first we would let go, but none of the others. So all this talk about replacing this striker or that striker seems a little bit pointless to me, unless of course Claudio is a liar.

I like how Albrighton and Okazaki has suddenly turned into world class Kante is our only world class player. Vardy and Mahrez are close. But our team isn't about world class players. And it isn't about sentimentality. Our team were 10 points better than any other team in England. Okazaki and Albrighton (and Ulloa) were part of that team. If Claudio and Walsh want to replace/"upgrade" certain players, then fair enough, I'll trust them... but as fans, I don't think we should be suggesting that, especially in the manner of saying we need better "goal scorers". Yes, we want our team to be better. Yes, we can improve upon certain players. But we need the right players to fit into our style of play or the right players to provide different options to our style of play without disrupting too much. If we could improve upon Vardy, I'd want to, but it's a bit disrespectful to say Suarez should replace Vardy after a season in which we ended up 10 points clear of 2nd.

Just because we won the league by 10 points doesn't mean we can't suggest players who'd improve our team.Chelsea won the CL in 2012, greatest night in their history, and that same summer they got rid of guys like Kalou and Boswingwa even though they contributed to their CL win (not saying we should get rid of Albrighton but we should sign someone better in that position) There a reason we've been after a striker in January and now.

Claudio was asked in a press conference in January about Daniel Amartey and he said he didn't know who Amartey was. 3 days later Amartey signs for us. So I would take what Claudio says with a pinch of salt.
filbertstreet Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 He did. Do you wanna start next season with Okazaki as our main striker along side Vardy? yes he's so smiley and hard working
FireFox Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 Just because we won the league by 10 points doesn't mean we can't suggest players who'd improve our team. Being excited about potential signings or suggesting players who'd improve the squad is fine... We need an upgrade on Albrighton. He's not enough of a goal threat. Gray is still raw and Schlupp isn't that good. Saying we need to upgrade one of our players because he isn't a goal threat is, in my opinion, disrespectful to him and the team.
General Smuts Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 Schlupp is fine aslong as you want all pace and no end product We were saying that about Vardy last season.
stix Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 Saying we need to upgrade one of our players because he isn't a goal threat is, in my opinion, disrespectful to him and the team. It's not about being disrespectful, the guys right, if we want to progress next season we need to get better players in, nobody is saying get rid of Albrighton, but we someone who does everything that he does, AND scores goals. Minimum 6 more games than last season, and at the highest club level as well, possibly extra domestic cup games too, we need to strengthen the squad, and unfortunately we can only strengthen in positions that one of our current players play in. It's how the game works if you want to become competitive at a higher level. No room for sentiment in football, that won't win you games.

MrSpaM Posted 20 May 2016 Posted 20 May 2016 Mate we won the ****ing Premier League I'm also slightly baffled by some peoples comments on here, anybody would think we'd just scraped out the relegation zone on the last day of the season. We've just won the league and all of a sudden some of our players 'aren't good enough'. I'm not sure what planet some of you are on.
