LoneWolf Posted 23 September 2005 Share Posted 23 September 2005 good enough to break into our first team from what people have seen of him in the reserves and U18's etc... + if he did get a good run of games and got offered to move to a bigger club, should we sell him... in my eyes, what i have heard of him he is awsome and i would love to keep him at the club imo and i think he would be a fans favorite at the club cos we alreayd have chants for him!! CHAMBO!!! CHAMBO!! CHAMBO!! best of luck, but u best stay at us !!
Brenfox Posted 23 September 2005 Share Posted 23 September 2005 He is nowhere near strong enough yet to play in the first team on a regular basis. Plus we have Hume & Hammond who are 'impact players' to come off the bench so i think this season is too soon for him.
Scow Posted 23 September 2005 Share Posted 23 September 2005 Levein has said he's looking to develop him on over the next two years, so it's a case of being patient.

Having said that if he has a strong season for the reserves then I can see him playing a fair bit next season. He can't sign a professional contract until he's 17 so clubs are free to sign him for a compensation fee. We don't want that at all.
LoneWolf Posted 23 September 2005 Author Share Posted 23 September 2005 Levein has said he's looking to develop him on over the next two years, so it's a case of being patient. but the thing is with development, alot of clubs think 'oh he aint playing football for them' and then they will come in for him
Louise Posted 23 September 2005 Share Posted 23 September 2005 He's 15, there is no point putting too much pressure on him now. I'd be surprised if he makes another first team appearance this year. That is not saying that he hasn't got potential, but at such a young age things have to be taken gently. Best thing for Chambo now, in my opinion, is if we all 'forget' about him and give him the time to develop into a great player rather than expecting him to be the next Rooney or something. Let's hope the coaching staff don't forget about him aswell, like they nearly did with Wesolowski until his dad had a quiet word in someone's ear and threatened to pull him out of the academy and take him elsewhere. Thracian Posted 23 September 2005 Share Posted 23 September 2005 I well understand Levein's reasoning in the circumstances but I think it was a pity we didn't get to see more of chambers in the Blackpool game. Even in his momentary cameo he caused a buzz. BrenDA! and Ric Flair quite realistically refer to his lack of strength/young age but it would have been interesting to see how his pace, skill and predatory instincts served him among senior players. He's fast, he's exceptionally tricky and perhaps tougher than his size might suggest. Even against stronger players he only seems to need the whisper of a chance and he is so goal focused that he takes it. Like the samurai specialist I saw on television recently he spots the opening and ruthlessly effects the kill before the defender even knows it has happened. His great strengths don't seem to be strength orientated. They are about speed - of body and mind. He seems to see the right pictures and is accurate enough to act on them. I wish we'd have seen how well those strengths served him against Blackpool. But it's something to look forward to.
brookfox Posted 23 September 2005 Share Posted 23 September 2005 On the subject of other clubs poaching him from us, does anyone know if he's from Leicester? Or even better, a city fan?
wirralsimon Posted 23 September 2005 Share Posted 23 September 2005 Not sure where he is from originally, but the fact that he is a member of this message board is a good indication. My guess is that CL may give him a couple of run-outs at the end of the season, especially if we are not involved in the playoffs. In the meantime any significant first team action would be premature and is best left until next season. Simon
Bert Posted 23 September 2005 Share Posted 23 September 2005 Levein has said we may see him again this season. he is from Leicester but im not sure who he supports, although i did he see him wearing a Leicester shirt in his P.E lesson last week. OS says he's from New Parks and he joined City when he was 8, so I'd assume he's from Leicester
lookwhaticando Posted 23 September 2005 Share Posted 23 September 2005 Thought you had to be 16 to play in the Football League? Although he did play in the League Cup... I tried looking for that information, but the football league websites regulations page appears to be a work-in-progess - i.e. it has no actual information at all. People keep banging on about this but I'm sure Jermaine Pennant played for Notts County at 15 in the league so I'm 99.9% sure its allowed!!!!!! Jimmy Posted 24 September 2005 Share Posted 24 September 2005 he will probably feature in the carling cup a fair bit as hume is cup-tied but short of an injury crisis, which at this club is more than likely, he wont feature other than that

Cal Posted 24 September 2005 Share Posted 24 September 2005 Hes only the same age as me, If it were me in his position id want to wait till i was 17. Plus from what my mates say when theyve played against him before they say hes very good. Hopefully he will make a big impact at the club when his time comes and lets hope none of the premiership vultures come in with their money.
