UPinCarolina Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 I can understand and respect the logic behind this post. There would be a period of adjustment and acclimation needed for any player who joined our club (no such thing as a true 'plug and play' exists) - but I would love to see some solid experience join us. I don't know who, or where that would be, however. CM seems to be the popular shout but I think that there's a very short window for CMs to be at their 'prime' without their legs declining as a result of the many miles they run each season. We will have to pay a great deal for one of those players.
Grewks Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Instead of looking at it from the '£30 million for Deeney is crazy' side, take the cash out of the question and ask yourself this....Would we have had greater physical presence, know how and experience on Saturday at Hull with Deeney in the side? The answer is yes. For me there was nothing wrong in paying that for Deeney. We were getting a leader at the front of the pitch, a greater physical presence, and adding more goals. If 'Gabigol' is worth over £10 million, a foreign unknown quantity, Deeney is worth the £30 million.

Dan Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 Diarra is actually a very good shout. I like that. Pretty sure Kante said that's who he modelled his game on.

But now bring in a player that hasn't won the league, that is perhaps a bit dirty and can handle themselves.

Any good team needs both experience and projects. This thread was removing half of that equation, I haven't said we don't need experience. I'm Huth's biggest supporter - it was him who saved us not NP or Cambi. It's the OP who doesn't want more projects. I want both. Still rather have Musa than Deeney though.

foxy boxing Posted 16 August 2016 Posted 16 August 2016 people who start projects at football clubs do not last long ie david moyes, what we need to do is keep evolving and developing and scouting for up and coming players while keeping our experienced players happy and delivering

I don't have names but in the same way that Huth has been one of our very best signings I think it's time to add experience. We have some younger (24 & under) players who have shown great potential either with us or elsewhere: Chilwell, Gray, Kapustka, Mendy, Musa. These players will need time & patience & we will see days like yesterday from them all. However in the Premier League time waits for no one & I'd like to see a couple of 'ready to go' signings arrive. Diarra from Marsielle is one name that springs to mind. An experienced international player who will hit the ground running. The future looks very bright but for now I think we can leave the Gabigol & Pardesi' of this world & add some 'know how'. just my $0.02 Not heard of Gabigol, but how are Pardesi and there 90's style of bhangra going to help us. Also, is that Pardesi before the music machine or after???
