Grewks Posted 31 August 2016 Author Posted 31 August 2016 We didn't win this when we were the best side in the bottom two tiers of English Football. This is our year
NGoloMode Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Just seen the game is on youtube if anyone wants to watch.
lgfualol Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 They seemed to split our defence open a few times

It also seems that the PL academy sides get 45% of the takings in all games, which seems a bit ridiculous, maybe if 90% of the proceeds went to the league 1 and 2 clubs it wouldn't be so widely despised. To put into context the 9,000 + crowds, Oxford were at home to Swindon and Plymouth were at home to Exeter. For those teams that's their big local derby. Sheffield United always get bigish crowds, however this year their manager being very vocal about his objection to the competition and stating he will play a weaker side has no doubt had an effect. Overall I don't think the attendances are too dissimilar to last years first round. You'll see the next game those that have won games will have slightly bigger followings and those that made poor starts have a smaller crowd.
It'sblueupnorth Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 I went to the game. Surprised that Leicester took over 50 to be honest. The game itself was dull, our u23s standard of football is very poor. Sheff United dominated us really, especially in the first half. Our best player was Gray. Bramley is a good shot stopper but his kicking is horrendous, if he worked on his distribution he could probably make the step up to the first team in time. Most of the first teamers looked disinterested especially Benny. Hernandez looked out of his depth most of the time to be honest. Muskwe held the ball up really well. Harvey Barnes looked lively when he came on I thought. Not that anyone will care but I'll do match ratings Hamer: n/a subbed off injured after 20minutes Hernandez: 4 poor defensively but okay on the ball Wasyl: 5 as rash as ever, solid enough Benalouane: 2 too casual, no intensity or interest Chilwell: 6 good in the air, made some positive runs forward Rowe: 6/7 looked lively, always tried to be positive Miles: 5 tried hard but fairly anonymous. Made some good interchanges when we had a go for the last 10-15 James: 7 ticked things over, got stuck in. Ndukwu: 7 tried things with no yield really, but did his defensive duties as well and tracked back Gray: 9 best player on the pitch Muskwe: 6 held the ball up really well, didn't have much service though. Bramley: 6 good one on one and some good saves, distribution terrible though otherwise would have been 8/9 Moore: 6 moved the ball around well but wasn't convinced with him defensively Barnes: 7 was impressed with him, energetic, broke play up a couple of times, looked raw
WigstonWanderer Posted 2 September 2016 Posted 2 September 2016 Worrying about the defence seeing as Hernandez, Wasyl, & Benny are our backup, and will likely see some first team action with the heavy schedule.

The lowest attendance last season for the first round was 1,203 compared to 392 (over 75% drop) 12 games in the first round of fixtures were lower than that, 7 games recorded no away fans. The turn out for the JPT has always been low but this is new levels of low, due to the #BteamBoycott but also the new format, group stages are shit.

I think Hernandez will be dependable. He got a lot of plaudits during his La Liga time. It's more worrying for me that we plan on playing him at RB where he clearly looks uncomfortable, same with Amartey.

No worry at all. To expect solid pros to get up for an under 23 match in front of 500 people is unrealistic, no idea why they are even playing, won't do them any good.
TJB-fox Posted 2 September 2016 Posted 2 September 2016 If you seriously, fully judge a player, a senior one at that, by their performance in an under 23 game against Sheffield United in front of 50 Leicester fans then you're acting mental. Of course Benny wouldn't give a shit. I've said before, the players that drop down to under 21's/23's don't care. Got a mate for A category 2 academy team (under 21 level)who says whenever he plays against big household names that have dropped down to the 21's for extra game time they are always a major disappointed due to a lack of interest and usually a lack of match fitness

This is a guy who hasn't even been selected in our 25 man squad, surely this guy should be fighting and trying at every opportunity to get back near the team.

themightyfin Posted 3 September 2016 Posted 3 September 2016 Barry Hales never looked like he was trying must have been because he was so good.

Probably by working his nut off in training where Claudio probably sees/hears about him every (other) day? Judging by Benalouanes social media it does look like he's putting in extra hours to regain fitness etc
