We're all confused. Nobody knows what this is all about.

How long does this "league" go on for? I'M SO CONFUSED!

It's what the Johnstone's Paint Trophy was in previous seasons with the addition of the academy/U23 teams (Premier League teams had a choice to enter or not).

Top 2 from each group go through to knockout stages.

Max Bramley, played U18 last year, sounds to have done very well and has saved a penalty.

Needs to be given more of a chance and i'm sure he will. Why waste time on Hamer, no future at the club, just great paydays.

ah never knew that, did hear PL teams could enter a competition before the season started didn't know that was this lol

Personally though we should have started Bramley and brought Hamer on at half time. Bramley's mam could've drove him back home to ensure he's up for registration.

Definitely a future starter, decent shot stopper and is perfect at finding the front row on every kick.

I'm guessing the home tie/s is at the KP? Reckon it's the sort of event where we should allow free admittance and offer incentives for fans to attend to give the young uns some support.

As much as I agree with this and would go, I just hope we wouldn't get too many down, don't want the competition organisers thinking its a success

She couldn't and he doesn't.

By all accounts Hamer isn't that good although did reasonably well when we had to play him. When loaned out he's returned pretty quick. Decent contract left and paid handsomely - happy days but has no future at the club.

Give guys like Max a chance, great player and I believe still the tallest at the club, fairly useful when making yourself big and something you can't train.

Hang on, why are we having a penalty shoot-out in a group stage?

Because we're massive and because it was all a fix in order to create tension and suspense amongst the fanbase so the three quid were well spent.

We were 5000/1 outsiders to win this...

Sheffield United players are getting a cake in return.

A true win-win-win situation - brilliant, wasn't it?

Highest attendance.:trumpet:

Wow, that wouldn't even fill half of Wembley.

I think the FA and sponsors need to say, either now or after the next round of fixtures that nobody goes to, that the experiment is over and next season it will return to the normal format. Then anyone staying away purely in protest could go to the game and it would hopefully boost attendances.

Out of interest, what were crowds like for the regular Johnstone's Paint Trophy in previous years?

Not great, but a lot better than this year most attendances were 1,000-3,000 for the first round

Accrington Stanley had 1,344 for their first round home tie last year, this year 565

AFC Wimbledon 1,251 last year this year 461 against Swansea U23

Sheff United had 5,491 for their second round game

Oxford and Plymouth both had over 9,000 for their second round games

Attendances can be found here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015–16_Football_League_Trophy

The  group stage format also means that crowds will be lower, a one off game for a bit of a novelty, or 3 crappy games. It also seems that the PL academy sides get 45% of the takings in all games, which seems a bit ridiculous, maybe if 90% of the proceeds went to the league 1 and 2 clubs it wouldn't be so widely despised.

The most important thing is that those crowds hopefully get the rid of the marketing myth that B teams in the lower league would provide a financial boost.

Plus a 28 year old French man scoring a goal for Norwich, Bristol Rovers naming a 68 year old on the bench, Wycombe / Exeter playing their managers, Reading playing 7 foreigners.

And Luton will get fined for giving 7 young English lads debuts.

So much for helping young English players develop.

The academy sides have to forfeit their cut of the takings - yet pay 50% of the expense playing the game.

Ah, ok, that makes sense, it just said on wiki that the takings are split 45% each with 10% going to the pool.
