Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has been nominated for the UEFA Champions League’s Goal of the Week and Player of the Week awards.

Mahrez was instrumental in the Foxes’ stunning 3-0 victory over Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday evening, as Claudio Ranieri’s men enjoyed a memorable Champions League debut.

The Algeria international’s beautiful 20-yard free kick has been nominated for the UCL Goal of the Week award alongside strikes from Andres Iniesta, Bernado Silva, Saul Niguez and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Meanwhile, Mahrez will contest the UCL Player of the Week award with Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Joshua Kimmich, Arkadiusz Milik, Bernardo Silva, Mario Gotze and Saul Niguez.

Seems like you have to register and state the team you support but they don't recognise LCFC.

Brilliant news it was a great free kick and good to see him being looked in the same light as messi and other world stars . He is undoubtedly our magician and the player we look to for that bit of skill and magic that can turn a game

I think it was goal of the week but I don't think he's entire performance warrants player of the week. I thought he was a solid 8 out of ten for us, but Messi and Aguero were next level.

For the purposes of voting for Mahrez, I'm a Wigan fan.

wow UEFA don't understand the rules lollol unless a goal is scored from open play they don't count. I think all UEFA delegate's should sign up to foxestalk and learn the rules.
