Not sure about signed but I ordered something quite small that was supposed to have been delivered by 1st class mail last thursday and  it's still not arrived. A right pain as it's holding up a DIY job I'm doing.

Royal mail has been declining for years. What used to be a postal sevice that was world class has degenerated into a service that priorotises red tape legislation over efficiency all the time.

When you have sorting office employees that cannot read the Queens English you are not going to get an efficient operation. Not a racist comment by the way but fact.

A mate of mine worked for them for years & on one occasion after 6 months off with, ahem, "stress" he was called in by the bosses so they could inform him he had accumulated holiday pay, I kid you not.

Well if you're off work sick why would you not still be entitled to holiday pay?

I think the clue is in the ahem, "stress" bit.

So you're saying that people can't be ill from stress, right?

The problem with RM is, like many of our businesses, not enough people to do the job.  Relentless cutbacks to keep the higher-ups in higher salaries, people in ivory towers making workplace decisions that they don't have a clue about and a generally unmotivated work-force, which has been more manifest since the privitisation of RM.

Going back to Gaelic's original question, I'm not aware of any overall issues with the mail... though since they "centralised" the various sorting offices (each county used to have their own as far as I know) into the large Southmids hub in Northants, it seems to me that the general flow of mail has become a far more hit and miss affair... but that all goes down to my comments in the previous paragraph,

No Carl it's not Chappy, someone else altogether. Lets just say that there was plenty more "working the system" in our beloved postal service.
