Gené and Tonic Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 I would. Many people were glad when he left, but the left back side has been a weakness this season. Had Jordan been here he would have probably been first choice, and attacked more as well (despite his awful crossing) We sold him, then bought Gilbert
Bert Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 I would, personally i've always rated him because on his day he is potentially awesome.
Anish Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 If it was Stewart v Gilbert I'd take Stewart anyday from what I've seen of Gilbert. However, Stewart is a lazy arrogant git and I wouldn't want him back.
Sam Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 I would i really do rate him and think that he has the potential to of become a leicester great but he wasn't given that chance, now he's left we hav no good left winger and no good left back. I liked his pace, I liked his passing, I liked his ability but I really don't like his shooting. Hows he doing at Watford?
Gené and Tonic Posted 28 September 2005 Author Posted 28 September 2005 Hows he doing at Watford? According to reports, and the games I've seen. Quite well. Pin point crossing
Mark Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 I would, I've always been a fan of Stewart. He didn't look too interested half the time but at least he was reliable enough. Can we say that about any of the 6 left backs we've played in the last 6 games? The reason we sold him was probably more down to his wages than anything else.
Sir JJ Wilcox Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 I don't think he was on too much money to be honest. But Stewart was fairly inconsistant but i did like him when he was in the game especially when he over lapped the left midfielder and got forward i just don't think craig fancied him all that much and obviously thought Gilbert and Kisnorbo were better suited.
Libertine Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 I wouldn't if we'd have found a good replacement for him, but we got Gilbert....so, yes I probably would take him back. Hope Gilbert can prove us wrong though.

You should have watched him play for the Reserves tonight. One spectacular goal, one equally spectacular goal disallowed another shot skimming the post and a sterling effort at centre-back where he was not perfect but a class part from anyone else in the wretched conditions. It is time fans realised the sort of guy you're talking out of the left back spot. Like I say, a young Denis Irwin but with a more exciting left peg. Genuine Premiership potential. And Chambers is another. Four chances out of no-where, one goal, another denied by a fine save and always a threat. Even the West Ham players and friends sitting in the stand seemed to know about his England exploits and talked about him as "class". Nice compliment that from The Academy of Football.
C-man Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 I want Stewart back now. He should never have been sold

Did I say I had anything against Sheehan? I voted him as the best left back at our club! He should be selected every week. But I would rather have Stewart in the team at this moment in time.
Wellman Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 I still don't understand why we got rid of him! Yes maybe he had an attitude problem but so does Rooney and you don't see Man U getting rid of him now do you!! One of CL's poorer decisions!

Yes it is a nice compliment but when West Hams Players and fans know about him already this can't be good as other clubs could well be picking up interest in him!
Nationwider Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 How about Alan Rodgers? Podgers? Stop it.

But I would rather have Stewart in the team at this moment in time. Certainly respect your opinion but after being introduced to Sheehan's ball-bending capabilities and close control in even the wettest conditions at tonight's reserve game (someone may put the strikes on film before long) I think I'd want him in my line-up if I were manager of a Premiership side, never mind one near the foot of the Championship.
Thracian Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Yes it is a nice compliment but when West Hams Players and fans know about him already this can't be good as other clubs could well be picking up interest in him! Perhaps we could hide him somehow. Do you think Filbert Fox would help out?
Ric Flair Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 The thing with Jordan Stewart is that he epitomised everything we were last season and are this season - inconsistent. When do you draw the line with a player? He'd been with us for a number of years and after an initial purple patch when he burst on the scene under Taylor he was very poor at times for the next 3 or 4 years and wasn't improving. He had the talent to get the crowd off their seats but half of that was them booing and slating him for giving the ball away. I think it was right to get rid of him but to replace him with Gilbert for an extra £75,000 seems like bad business. Having said that Sheehan looks alot more talented than Jordan Stewart and if it was Sheehan who was playing every week then I don't think this topic would be brought up. I'm glad he's gone to be honest even if I did like him at times. Also I remember hearing that Taylor had promised to offer him a new deal just before he was sacked rumour has it that it was about £14,000 a week. When Bassett and Adams came in they told him to forget about that and to prove himself worthy of a new deal, he rejected 3 deals that Adams offered him and eventually agreed to a new deal when we were in the premiership and i'd hazard a guess that he was still probably offered 7/8k a week.
supedaj Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 i wouldnt take stewart back - sheehan would be much better choice. However, Thatcher was a good left back - he always gave 100%, was always tough tackling, good awareness and decent passing too.

Ric Flair Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 True but he had commitment issues didnt he. He was also very injury prone.
Scow Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 I wouldn't take him back - we have to move on. I believe that Sheehan will turn out to be a better player, but he needs to be given a run of games. I would say that Stewart would be a better option that Gilbert - however, it is too early to pass judgement on someone how has only played a handful of games, and is allegedly struggling with match fitness.
AyewJoking Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 Maybe Stewart is a better player than Gilbert but Stewart had his chance and blew it.
