So you last won the old first division 45 years ago.. last won the FA cup 25 years ago... and you think you are a big club? By that Logic, Everton should consider themselves a bigger club than you

Yes people got behind you last season and they were always going to, a very little club overperforming and beating the big boys to the title. If I wasn't a Spurs fan and we weren't the best side in the country last season I'd have been cheering you on too. Whilst you talk a lot of sense buddy you are unbelievably deluded to write that you were the best side in the country last season..... You were top of the league once weren't you for a bout 15 minutes? Surely by your logic any side can say they were the best side in the division that season - it's just that they didn't score as many points as err the side that won the division? You write a fair bit of sense but there is this underlying weird entitlement that still rots your credibility as you actually seem to believe that you deserved to win it or that other factors conspired to ensure you didn't. You didn't win it because you you didn't win more games and put in consistently better performances than the side that did. And you are out of the Champions League for exactly that reason too - and yet I bet you believe that you're better than all the sides that have ensured you finished third in that league too. Its not not about what you have the potential to achieve it's about what you achieve. And you my son have achieved 3rd place. Twice.
danieldelap Posted 5 December 2016 Posted 5 December 2016 We had the second best defence with a average 0.92 goals against compared to your 0.95. And we had the second best attack with a average of 1.82 goals per game compared to your 1.79, but didn't have the advantage of all the other teams wanting us to win the league. We are our of the Champions League because for some bizarre reason Poch decided to rest players. Maybe he realises we aren't good enough to compete on both fronts at the moment and such is the way of football it is more important to qualify for nexts seasons tournament than do well in the current one. I am confident however that Poch is building a super club, one that will dominate English football again as it once did.

You lost 15.8% of your games compared to our 7.9% So you scored 1 goal more and conceded 1 less than us. Definite grounds for deserving the league title. You scored 2 less than Manchester City below you. What does it all mean!!

It's not about beating more teams by 4 or 5 goals, it's about beating 4 or 5 more teams. As I've pointed out elsewhere Spurs aren't competitive enough and don't have the mental strength to make a loss into a draw or a draw into a win. You can trounce Bournemouth 5-1 as much as you like, but when you can't hold leads or can't fight back in other games it's all kind of pointless. Case in point about Spurs is that they've gone unbeaten this until very recently, which was a good achievement, but they've never looked like troubling the top of the table. Hard to beat, not good enough to force a win. Oh and you've won the title twice in your history, and the rest of your existence is littered with a few cups. When exactly did you dominate English football?

When exactly did you dominate English football? It's a bit more than a 'few cups'. When we won the FA Cup in 1991 we were at that point the record holders with 8, and back then of course that FA Cup was held in far higher regard than it is now. You can add 3 major European Trophys to that list. We dominated in the 60's, winning the double, another two FA Cups on top, and a European trophy.

Man Utd dominated in the 90's and 2000's, Liverpool in the 70's and 80's. Winning multiple titles is domination, not winning one double.

Corky Posted 5 December 2016 Posted 5 December 2016 If you beat Hull and Burnley next week we'll start to like you again. Deal?
orangecity23 Posted 5 December 2016 Posted 5 December 2016 Time to just pop these in here again for the Spurs fan:

And just to add, since Spurs last won the league, Tony Adams was born (1966) and grew up and captained Arsenal to four titles wins (including two doubles). And since you like your stats so much - these are the clubs (apart from the really big ones) who have won more titles than Tottenham: Everton (9) Aston Villa (7) Sunderland (6) Chelsea (5) Manchester City (5) Newcastle (4) Sheff Weds (4) Leeds (3) Wolves (3) Huddersfield (3) Blackburn (3) Bold indicates club has won it more recently than Spurs Preston, Derby, Burnley and Portsmouth have won the same number of titles as Spurs
