Believe me i'm never one to write a player off quickly, I always normally give players the benefit of the doubt but I just genuinely can't see him being a regular or big player for us. I'd love to be wrong but I really just dont have a good feeling about him

The guy has been injured for the majority of the season and is new to the Premier and clearly not match fit. Give him some time to get up to speed then let's judge how good he is.

He he was very well thought of in France and hope he'll do well with a few more games under his belt.

Lawrence has to come back and get a chance next season.

Looks like he's developing brilliantly- always had talent but looked a bit too lightweight- seems strong and quick on the ball there, and some stunning finishes.

Is he playing as a striker for them?

I know this has been mentioned a lot recently but I wanted to bring up the point of what team we could have and how we're building for the future.

In a few years time this could potentially be our team

                            Lawrence

           Gray                                   Kapustka

                             Barnes

                    Mendy        Ndidi

Chilwell         NEW CB   NEW CB         Amartey

                            Iverson

Yes it's likely going to look quite a bit different to that but on paper we're well set....

Lawrence is too small to go in goal and I wouldn't have Iversen as a lone striker.

You must be seeing a different player to me then. I agree that Drinkwater has been doggo. We seemed to tick over a lot better when N'Didi came on for Mendy in ET...Now the sky is the limit with that lad. Reminds me of a young Yaya.

I'd say he's more like Patrick Vieira, he has skinny and long legs.

We have some fantastic talents at the club and some outstanding players in there peak age wise which is even more baffling why we arent "doing it" at the moment. However, with Claudio at the helm he will give younger players more of a chance than some other selfish managers. He has introduced quite a few well documented players to the first team at his previous clubs and we are buying players with one eye on the future.

Ndidi looks like he could be mahusive, Gray has been spoken of as a mega player before we even signed him. Already Everton have allegedly been sniffing around. Most of us here probably though Chilwell was Liverpool bound and we did amazingly to sign him up as he could quite easily be an England left back. Amartey again could be anything but we need to find a position for him and keep him there so he can learn his craft. Kapustka looks a real technical player in that no 10 possie. Again, you can see why CR didnt pick him straight away as he is very light weight but he has been here for a while so hopefully he is settling in and learning the lingo. I cant see many of the rest kicking with us. Lawrence is the interesting one but will he sign a new contract? I dont think he will. I can see him being punted out in the summer for a few mill.

I'm surprised by how down on some of the new players folks are in this thread. Mendy in particular, I mean, he has only played what, four Premier League matches so far, with a variety of teammates around him and two of the games were the Chelsea/Southampton fiddly formation games. I am not saying he's a world-beater, but he has acquitted himself well enough for many of us -- myself included -- to want to see what he looks like with regular play, with familiar faces in support on the pitch. Fact is, he is still working off the rust on his way back from injury, in a new league, he isn't playing consistently, and he seems uncertain re what is expected of him.

You may chuckle, but I see it over here in MLS all the time. No doubt many consider it very poor quality, but MLS is a very high tempo league, and many accomplished foreign players more accustomed to patient probing and possession-focused attack struggle when suddenly dropped in a league where athleticism and skill and quick attacks determine the outcome. Every league has its own set of demands, we all know how difficult the EPL is. It seems reasonable to wait on a larger sample size before we turn on Mendy (and I could say the same thing for Amartey and others).

He's the only midfielder I've seen to actually want the ball? He was always offering against Derby and unlike Drinkwater dosent hoof it forward aimlessly and keeps things ticking over.

Yes I like Mendy as well he's a good passer of the ball and you need a mixture of different types of players in midfield. One problem for him was that he was being labelled the next Kante yet he's never been that type of player. He will be a good player for us.

I think Ndid, Gray and Chilwell will be world class in their postion(or at least close) the others will be decent.

lol

are people doing this on purpose now...?

Not over excited about Mendy.

Looks average to me.

Here's hoping he proves me wrong.

I wouldn't judge him until next season really

he has had proper bad luck with injuries and you can see in some games he has potential and a tidy little player without ripping trees up, next season I think he will progress

just hope it's with us in the Prem
