What does Gray have to do?

Away tie in the last 16 of the Champions League - I think we would go defensive no matter who the manager was.

Probably, but i'm talking about pretty much every single game for about the last 12 months.

Like those games that won us the premier league title?

Gray deserves to start over Mahrez - let alone Musa and Albrighton. He needs game time and a position and the knowledge that he is trusted to develop a role in the team. Yes he needs to work on his final ball and his decision-making but that's where managing and coaching comes in. Musa was/isuseless - we can all agree on that. But Albrighton on the left is a waste of space. He always needs to take an extra touch to turn inside - every time last night he hit the first man. Without either Slimani or Ulloa in the team his crossing capability is redundant anyway. Play him on the right or not at all.

But Mahrez' performance deserves some special consideration. This guy has become a complete show pony. His retention of the ball, his delivery, his awareness, are all utterly shot. There is no sign whatever that he is playing for the team - just trying to create tricks for his showreel. He plays at walking pace, his defensive work is dire and when he dribbles and is tackled, he willfully overruns as though he hadn't expected to be challenged thus making a recovery counter-challenge impossible. His dead ball delivery is overrated. If CR wants to retain any credibility - he needs to be benched.

I'm sorry to be downbeat bit some of the positivity after last night is completely overblown. Only a world class performance by Kasper stopped us from being mauled in the first half, Morgan, Huth and Fuchs were terrible throughout and unless we can get a better back four, nothing much is going to change. Sevilla by the way, were brilliant.

Yes, pretty much. Maybe from Man City onwards there's been a definite shift into negative football.

I think this season has proven that playing like that and expecting positive results isn't sustainable over a long period of time.

Personally i think our whole philosophy of the way we played was based upon negitive football. What we have lost is the spark, the edge that meant we were so able to counter as we did.

Back to Gray though - He should be a major talent, but last night was a huge game and i highly suspect Claudio has question marks over his maturity and whether he could handle it. Musa is one of the few players we have who has Champions League experience before this season so i would guess that was Claudios thinking. Much like why Fuchs started over Chilwell.

Agree with most of you.

Was very surprised he didn't start. But like many have said here, his impact as a sub is often tremendous. He changed the game for us last night.

His decision making sometimes lets him down.

But worth remembering that he is an inexperienced 20 year old who was playing in a Champions League knockout game.

The issue being he makes such an impact from the bench that he's used in the role a lot

but hands down starting over Musa - lad just isn't having a good game

Be good as a starter. He's had chances this season in the starting 11 and has been inconsistent.

Be good as a starter? You mean like Albrighton, Mahrez and Musa have been when they've started? He hasn't started many games and as I have previously pointed out, and others seem to be ignoring, when he has started he's started up front with Vardy. He's not a striker and certainly won't do anything when he has long balls hoofed to him when he's playing against massive centre backs. He needs a good run of games in his natural position. Not play him for one game and then drop him if he doesn't have a stormer. He is far better than our other wingers at the moment and looks like the only attacking player who can cause problems

Still not the finished article.

Actually think it was to the sides and his benefit that he was on the bench.

Sussing the game, filling with confidence, fresh legs and knowing yourve got to look better than Mousa
