Brilliant how often we seem to be the top dogs in this country.

Not really in the know regarding basketball so genuinally wondering what makes us so good year on year?

Do we have more money than other teams? Good management/recruitment? Or are we just a bloody good team?

Taller players, most likely!

Be interested to see if they go for Europe this time. Totally dominating this afternoon

I hope so- it's something they have been looking at & building for for a few years apparently, but it would have stretched resources too much previously. Hopefully they have enough in place to give it a go now.

I never knew how big basketball is in Europe- I was in Lithuania a few months back, and the bar I was in was showing the local side away at Real Madrid. Their arena is massive, and the bar was packed. Be great if the Riders can continue to develop and be a part of/compete in that!

That tournament you describe is EuroBasket which is absolutely huge in Europe. That’s the first tier competition.

Riders are eligible for the third tier European competition. Some very, very good teams in it still. The difficult is that a lot of Riders staff will be backroom and behind the scenes part time; Europe means a game every midweek too.

Well done Leicester Riders and Rob Paternostro, a fantastic achievement and the riders are the dominant force in U.K Basketball. long may it continue

Yeah, the infrastructure just isn't in place for it I suppose. Stretching the playing squad by giving them extra travel & games would probably hinder our domestic form too- I guess we've won everything multiple times now, so they might feel that it's now worth a crack!

Dunno if I'd be keen on another Leicester team playing Porto. Would love to see Aris fans in action, even if it's not at a football match.

The team from my wife’s town in Poland is on there.

Do the Riders seriously have a chance of qualifying for this?

Torun? Everyone loves Apator there.

Very, very tough. For me they'd need to draw one of the Scandinavian or Benelux teams to have any chance. If they drew the Spainish club, they'd be in for a serious hiding.

Winnable fixture - Bakken Bears, the Danish Champions. First leg in Leicester, Thursday 20th September and second leg on the Saturday. The winners of the fixture face Hapoel Tel Aviv or Spirou Charleroi. Winning that would then face an extremely difficult game against UNAM Murcia.
