Ok.  So why was it booked?

Because Arsenal had triggered his release clause and already negotiated a deal with vardy's people. That happened on the Friday and he was due there on the Monday. Clearly he had second thoughts over the weekend having spoken to team mates and others plus the hierarchy of the club.

So why did he go for a medical at Arsenal if he didnt want to leave??

Presumably then just to increase his negotiating power at LCFC sensing that timing was perfect for 'another' new contract and hefty salary increase.....and then he tells the world he is staying loyal to Leicester!       Hmmmmm.....not sure i share his definition of the word 'loyalty'

Got to agree with you. I always thought the rot started last season when Vardy kicked off trying to squeeze more money out of the club. To me that marked the official end of the Band of Brothers meme.

So.......

Firstly, he must have authorised 'his people' to negotiate with Arsenal on his behalf in first place whcih does not suggest loyalty to LCFC?

If he is loyal to LCFC, he doesnt HAVE to leave just because someone triggers his release cluase

Secondly, if he had some sort of "Road To Damascus" epiphany moment during the weekend which changed his view, why didnt he just tell LCFC he wasnt leaving and there was no need for any further discussion?   Is 'loyalty' now valued in monetary terms of an extra £40k per week...?

Somehow, i think you are being slightly naive to think that the 'posturing' with Arsenal nad the planned medical had nothing to do with JV negotiating himself a better deal with LCFC and then claiming loyalty to the club

On the contrary -  I believe our owners to be pretty hard nosed when it comes to negotiating packages and therefore, vardy's people will have told him he would need to get a viable offer on the table to get a new deal through.

Who knows if the contact with Arsenal was merely his agent drumming up an offer that wasn't intended to be followed through. However, Vardy had to visit London colney to make it convincing and became drawn into the world of the 'big club'. Unforeseen thngs sometimes happen. It is relevant however that at this same time, mahrez decided he wanted to leave and kante also. Remember that the club believed NG was going to stay for another season. Vardy going off to the euros having not decided what to do would likely have convinced NG that he needed to look after number one. He had a meeting with conte - the rest is history. Maybe if the whole Vardy to Arsenal charade hadn't happened, NG wouldn't have been tempted to speak with conte. It's all sliding doors isn't it.

Vardy's people showing the greed to get his deal bumped up from the decent wedge negotiated end Jan may well be responsible for the whole thing falling apart as far as the 'band of brothers' is concerned.

Human nature!!

Arsenal offered him more money than we did.

Anyone who was outside the stadium as the players started leaving the post Everton party on presentation day last year would have had no doubts  it was Kante's last time at the King Power....Most of the players did the usual wave, sign couple of autographs, pose for couple of pictures then head off. Ngolo came out and spent about an hour going around everyone that was there posing for photos and shaking everyone's hand ....I was there with my daughter and couple of friends with their young son and we all knew it was au revoir to one of the legends

Did not relise Schalke were so big, just read about them - thats how you run a football club!

'In terms of operating income, Schalke possesses the 7th highest operating income of any football club in the world at €48 million,[6] and 0% debt as of August 2014.[7] S04 generates the 12th highest revenue of any football club in the world at €198 million'

They're making quite a lot of money through summer tour deals with China & they're sponsored by Vladimir Pu..., err, Gazprom.

As for the KPMG table, it's a KPMG table and by no means reflects our actual standing in the footballing world.

They apply their own different factors and influencers in their calculation, just like Deloitte do.

No. 16 in the KPMG list means nothing to me. But I'm sure the club will be happy to use it as a means to attract more financial interest, so good on them.

I'd rather we're able to compile a squad that wants to compete with the Top Ten in the country, and for that I look to this year's summer transfer window with lots of anticipation...
