"Pathetic non argument", IE I have a differing opinion that you don't like, and you can't back up your thoughts with any examples or evidence :)

Hang on Sol. I was citing Lawro as a non argument, not you. I used his effort as an example of a repeated mantra. It also happened to be a non argument.

This just makes it an extended version of the league cup. What's the difference??

I personally like the ideas of replays, it adds some spice to the tie and financially cup replays have provided a major boost to some of the lower league teams.

Already damaged the FA cup through having semi-finals at Wembley, don't ruin it any further!

Reckon the best compromise is:

Ditch replays from the 5th round onwards only as most are Championship/Premier League teams playing the reserves anyway.

Keep the Sat matches for all

Semi finals at 2 grounds which arent Wembley

Move the League Cup final to midweek

Ah ok, sorry mate, understood.

If replays are such a burden for big clubs, maybe they should try a bit fvcking harder to win ties at the first time of asking. If it's as good a league as we're constantly being told, Liverpool's second string should've had no trouble battering 11 morons from Plymouth instead of getting taken to a replay this year.

This would mean other leagues across Europe (infact probably the world lol) having to adjust aswell but here,

Scrap the League Cup, play the odd PL game in its usual slots instead meaning the season can start later/finish earlier

Have 1 main international break across two seasons, with one tagged onto the end of each domestic season building up the summer tournament. However the break in season would be a 3 week break (2 whole weekends free for internationals)

Based off last season

So for example start the season as normal in early-mid August

Play an extra 2 PL games in the slot where the League Cup 1st and 3rd rounds are played (last season the week before we started, but lets say this can be our 2nd game of the season, and the other game is mid-late September)

International break say from 16th October-6 November. 4 internationals played in that time say on the 20th/21st Oct, 24th/25th Oct, 29th/30th Oct and 1st/2nd Nov. I would imagine that means the Champions/Europa League losing a game to be rescheduled somewhere else though

Say maybe two more PL rounds where the QF and one of the SF's of the League Cup are normally played so we've now found 4 matchdays but lost 2 to the longer international break

To help the season finish earlier pick later rounds to be played midweek (since obviously it is mainly the PL programme that is affected more than lower leagues)

The 2nd international break, or shall we say period in this situation can latch onto the end of what should be an earlier finish to the season. In odd number years i.e no world cup/euros we have 4 more qualifiers spaced similarly to the October break.

Into next season have the international break in October again with the final two qualifiers, and then two slots for the play offs. Not sure what qualified/knocked out teams can do with their spare week or so though lol training camp or summat

Again an earlier finish, with more time than normal to prepare for the summer tournament

Don't hate on this if there is a blatantly obvious flaw because i've not thought it through thoroughly lol

FA Cup winner to play last place CL qualifier from the league for that CL spot. Losing team gets Europa.

Maybe we'll see some other clubs go for it with that prize on the line.

Funny how all the non-English players in PL don't seem to have problems. Winter break is a dumb idea.

Getting rid of replays isn't a bad idea to be fair. Although might not help those smaller clubs who get a big away day.

Just a double barrel of bad news. FA cup ruined and more crappy weeks without football.

How thick have you got to be to think England will be better at the World Cup because the players didn't play for 2 weeks 7 months earlier. Unbelievable.

They'll still play, if other leagues take their break around the same time I could a money-spinning friendly being arranged between European clubs.

Because it's nothing to do with the FA (although needs to be approved by them) or PL it's one of the ways albeit small that the EFL can generate it's own income.

If the PL spread it's vast income a bit further then these other competitions would not be so necessary to raise money, unfortunately it's going the other with the'big' clubs now demanding the lions share of the PL overseas TV income on the basis of that's who they want see play. However this is because they already get a massive proportion of TV income so it becomes ever more self full filling that the big clubs remain big and thus demand more.

Fair enough, but it goes to show how screwed up english football is. The fa, premier league and efl running various things and apparently zero coordination between the three.

People say a winter break helps other countries' national teams, but i don't see many other countries (France perhaps an exception) having 2 cup competitions.

On the second part of your post, i totally agree.
