TAFKA Castroneves Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 I think they all deserve a chance in and around the first team, they all have something about them for different reasons. Matty James we know can be a decent midfielder and he'll be hungry to get back in the first team picture himself, no reason to deny him that after a decent spell at Barnsley last year and his history with us, a welcome return. Barnes is a great young talent and of course he could just go back out on loan - but he's had a really great few months and i would like us to see if we can use that momentum to bring him into our squad and continue his development here. Lawrence divides a lot of fans from what i've seen - but he's at an age now where we really gotta see if he can do it for us or just get rid, he's had a successful loan spell and he's not had the best group of lads to play alongside down at Ipswich, I've got a good feeling that he could contribute as well. With these lads in the squad lets get more of our money going after a winger (or two) and another defender. I'd prefer us to keep and utilize these guys so we could say get a Boudebouz in...
nnfox Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 James is well capable and should be a regular on the bench, ready to take his chance when it comes. Barnes, Lawrence and Kaputska are all exciting prospects. I half expect Barnes to go out on loan again which won't be a bad thing. With Mahrez going out,I'd expect more game time for Gray. Which in turn allows Kaputska or Lawrence to feature from the bench. Honestly, I think I would rather give them a chance than spunk a load of money on a Mahrez replacement. Give it until January at least...
Stoney7 Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 I hope that if he stays kapustka will get a bit less game time than gray did last season
BlueTillIDie Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Jamie Lawrence was a good character and had his moments but lets be honest not a patch on John Barnes.
chicagofox Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 James - No. He is not of Premier League standard and he never has been Lawrence - Possibly. While (unlike some) I'm not calling for him to get a starting place, I do feel like he deserves a chance to prove himself in pre-season. Would be delighted to see him become a first-team squad regular. Barnes - Unlikely. Without doubt a player of potential and one who should be nurtured. Can't (realistically) see him getting more than the odd appearance of the bench this upcoming season.

Yes your right it really wasnt him in the middle of the park for all those run of games, it was Drinky in his James mask

Give the guys a chance ffs before dizzing them off has incapable...Too many Postets always pick up the negative baton, Far too early.. No loans, no maybes, not just cup game time...throw them in. New buys, if any of you have noticed of late, dont necessarily hit the ground running. I have always liked James ( game of Varying opinions).Lawrence...make or Break time.. Barnes, young and shown potential, lets see what he can do when he has to face up. We can always pull Barnes back a little , if he doesnt find the right notes..hes still young. We cant keep running scared, of using our ' Possibles' from the fringe players. Non of you know the consequences...fk me we won the league with a bunch of mongrels, and failures Aka this forum...So ..non of us are experts.!!! So lets not put on , we know or even think better.... I for one, after 63 yrs still havent a fking clue...!!!! Stop being bloody negative before the lads have been even given their Reins.. Really...!!! We could get relegated..."with your own prospective best team" We are fans, not bloody managers, and this forum everyday is the living proof of why..!!! But everybody has the right to throw in their penny worth of banter...but why chose the negative straw...

Actually it was someone else in the middle of the park a lot of the time.
foxinsocks Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 for different reasons these guys are gambles. Chicago is wrong to dis james - he showed us he can hack the prem... he was the outstanding player even with pogba in the utd youth team. I hope matty will play are part for us this season - but none of us knows if his injury will re-occur. The other guys are "gambles" in that we don't know how far they can go. My point is always to say that is it ok for us to have a few gambles... but along with musa, slimani, amary and kapustka, we have enough. So, no more gambles - we should bring in proven quality player if we are to have ambition; Ihanacho, keane, smalling, silva, Sigurðsson would be quality . SO we can argue about what these three can give all we like - but none of us knows... and that's ok.... but we don't need any more "gambles".

I totally respect your opinion mate. But how he performed at youth level is not relevant to now. I totally agree with you about needing to bring in proven Premier League players (if possible).

Long Eaton Fox Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Has anyone on here actually seen him play. I have and if he can back to his previous standard he will be a great asset to our team.
yorksfox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 James and Lawrence were both outstanding in the Championship last season- they were the stand-out players for Barnsley and Ipswich in the matches against Huddersfield (my 'other' team). They can both offer far more than either Mendy or Musa and certainly have great work ethics, coupled with good technical ability. They are more worthy of a place in the squad than any of our signings over the last 12 months with the sole exception of Ndidi.

I've only seen clips of him in Ligue 1 to be fair but he looks like he could handle himself comfortably for us if fit, have you seen a lot of him?
