Bad feeling....

It just seems we missed out. Since winning the league we've gone backwards, including losing a key player while two want to leave.

What other way was there? I'm going to keep saying it, ee bid good money for Keane and Deeney and we couldn't even get them to rock the boat with their clubs to force a move. We just weren't a big enough pull to attract top talent, so you're relying on finding hidden gems lower down the system who see us as a step up... which is risky as they've only done it at a lower level.

It was a disaster to get so many wrong, but we just weren't the draw people seem to think we were.

Mandaric was still Chairman for both appointments for starters, it's called learning from your mistakes. They clearly learnt their lessons early.

Considering those players haven't gone yet how exactly to you think we're going to replace them. How about you moan on that once they've gone... and oh, by the way we aren't going to be able to replace a player of the year winner like for like. So don't even expect that one.

They appointed Erikson and bankrolled all the bum signings he made. But fair play to them they did not hesitate to get rid of Ranieri when it was needed. And I don't think they will hesitate if we continue to lose top players and play like we did against Man United.

We weren't or are the draw. Don't include me in that. I can remember arguing with people on here who, that summer, said staying at Leicester would be better than moving to Arsenal (RE Vardy).

We had one good season. It's not even comparable to Blackburn in 95 - at least they finished in the top 4 before winning the league (didn't they finish runners up prior to winning it?).

The only way was down really, I agree, but I expect us to replace players with equally as good/better players. I wish we were like Southampton, for example, who find better players....  for instance they sold Lallana and got in Mane (a batter player).

We weren't even strong enough to keep Walsh from going to Everton and then our summer signings were 90% shite. That doesn't help.

Losing players has nothing to do with the manager here, why do you keep pretending it is. Kante wanted to go the second there was a sniff from a big team and that was with a title winning manager. You said you don't expect us to be a Man City and Chelsea, but then in the next breath you expect us to be able to keep our players form their clutches and to not lose to them at their grounds.

They've spent billions, how on earth can we not lose players to them or avoid defeat more often than not. Everton spent a small fortune and got walked all over, they are going to walk over most teams. That's why they've won so many titles.

Agree, not sure Saints find better players though, hence them slowly regressing. Some might be, but if you sell Mane and get Redmond was it, in his place. That's a downgrade.

When you've reached such a high level (Vardy, Kasper, Kante, Mahrez) have all reached heights I don't think any saints player has come close to yet, it becomes so much harder to get equal or better quality.

I'm hopeful that when we get to the point of replacing the others we up their general quality.  Wes (Maguire), Shinji (Iheancho), Slimani (Uloa), Iborra (King) hopefully that's good squad upgrades right there (if they all stick around).

First of all, they haven't spent " billions " and secondly they have already recouped what they spent just winning the title on a shoestring and being in the champions league. they also own the ground and everything to do with it, so that is a very big financial asset should they ever wish to sell. they are already quids in. In relation to my comment about the man united match it was more an observation that a proven premiership manager would never have gone there to try and defend for 90 minutes. Much as I like Shakespear and think he's a top class coach he's not the way forward.

Manchester United and Chelsea have spent billions, I was talking about them.

That's exactly what most lesser teams do, as they have done for pretty much the last 25 years. If managers get sacked for results at old trafford, then they all might as well give up now and go home. Because most of them are losing their jobs.

We've lost a single player. We managed to keep Vardy. The two players wanted are on four year deals (probably because when enquiries were made last summer, the club predict this happening) and let's see where they are on Friday morning. If clubs want them, they will pay significantly for them.

lollol You are kidding me? Countless managers have done that repeatedly.

Got a bad feeling about this transfer window, I think someone is going to come in for Kasper or Chilwell, never mind all the talk of Drinkwater, Mahrez, Vardy all going Chelsea, Slimani, Mendy, Musa & Gray on the move too, hope the development squad step up for the next few games.....:(

Up the City.... :scarf:

call these people

jeees because the likes of ronald de boer and rafa  are working really well.

But i agree with last years recuritment... whoever fault that was. That was a chance to springboard us to the top.

It wasn't really though in my opinion. It was definitely an opportunity to progress, for sure, but that's all. We could never compete with the money, the location or the reputational lure of the big teams without a PSG style investment.

And before anybody says it, I dont mean progress from champions - that was not a normal year by any measure - I mean from a bottom half team  who has only been in the league for 2 years

2 players gone off the list, Mahrez allowed to leave the Algeria training camp for a move to Barcelona (hope its them and not a Premier team) and Musa on loan to his mate at Hull.... :(

Up the City (if we have a team left tomorrow) :scarf:

If we don't sign a right back then I have a very bad feeling that our management team has deemed it unnecessary to have competition in that area for so long. Simpson is quality and underrated but if he's injured I don't rate Amartey there.
