hackneyfox Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 Has anyone been to a home Valencia game? Wondering if it's worth getting tickets against Espanyol as I'm holiday at the time. I'll have a 13 year old in tow.

Finnegan Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 Fans at the Mestalla are quite famously demanding, passionate and partisan. Sort of like Newcastle but with more reason to expect success. Supposed to be well worth experiencing. Doubt they sell out a lot as nobody in Spain does tbh. I'd love to go.
Captain... Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 Lived there for a few years, it only sold out for Barca or Madrid, you always used to be able to rock up 20 minutes before kick off and get tickets in the Vomitorio for 20 Euros. Doubt much has changed. Most of the fans are pretty chilled apart from the corners with the "ultras" but you won't end up there. Away fans are virtually non existent. It's definitely worth going but don't expect a great atmosphere, it's not bad, there are 2 corners that go for it all game the rest are just eating sunflower seeds and don't really chant.
hackneyfox Posted 3 October 2017 Author Posted 3 October 2017 Which 2 corners? If we're going that's where we'd head for.
Guest MattP Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 Just walk up, we payed about face value even for tickets against Real Madrid. It's the steepest ground you'll ever go to, you won't believe it until you take your seats.

North West and South West corners, if I remember correctly. But they are all season ticket holders, and the west stand is the members stand. East stand is the cheap stand and north east corner is the away fans, if there are any. BTW if you think our club is a farce, then Valencia have a half built multi million euro stadium on the edge of town. They started work on it 10 years ago and it is just sitting there incomplete due to lack of funding. They basically gambled on selling the old stadium to fund it, but they could only sell it to someone who would let them carry on playing in it until the new stadium was complete. They had no buyers, so they have abandoned it. Actually they announced today they want to restart construction...
hackneyfox Posted 3 October 2017 Author Posted 3 October 2017 Thanks, perhaps try and get seats next to one of these corners.
Turbogre Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 Never watched a match but did do the Mestalla Forever tour. You’ll visit the dressing rooms, media room and other normally off-limits areas. The tour is pretty popular, so you may want to book tickets through the website in advance of your visit. Amazing stadium.
boots60 Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 Great old stadium, bit ragged around the edges but a proper ground. Pre match beer in Manolo's, opposite, is a must. He's the guy that bangs the drum at the Spanish games, bit of an Iberian Jobber, & his bar is like a Valencia & Spain football museum.
Soup Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 I've been a few times and go on the 1st row of the 1st tier so you're just above the main ultras, this is in the south stand. I've tried jibbibg in with them but always get stopped. As mentioned you can get tickets on the day but the official online site is really easy and you just print off your ticket. Agree with others that the stadium is awesome and will be a shame if they ever move. Plus the new staduim is further out so not as central. I go to watch Levante as well when in town, shit ground and a bit further out but still only 10 mins on the underground. Worth doing both as they both play at home on the same weekend. I'm going in the away end when Levante play at the Mestalla in Feburay with probably 400 others Such bizarre away support over there.
Aaron_LCFC Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 I've just arrived back from Valencia and went to the Athletico Bilbao game. It is most definitely worth while!! We got tickets in the top stand along the touch line, right near the top, and it cost us €20 each. We brought direct through the Valencia website, however tickets didn't go on sale until a week before the game. The ultra are behind the goal in the south stand, block 2. They were very noisy and was a pleasure to behold to be honest. The ground is about a 20-30minute walk from the city centre, so it's really very reasonable. You'll find the stadium very steep if sitting in the upper tiers, so bear that in mind. If you need any help or guidance, please get in touch. Cheers, Aaron
