leicsmac Posted 11 December 2017 Posted 11 December 2017 Wasn't quite sure where to put this so thought I'd start a new thread. Soooo...Paradox. Specialists in the really immersive, really detailed and really fvcking hard real time strategy. Anyone else enjoy? I've only got into Stellaris so far but it's proving to be excellent - apart from the moment where 30+ hrs of gameplay get wrecked by that fallen empire awakening and proceeding to stomp you into the dust.
Finnegan Posted 11 December 2017 Posted 11 December 2017 I've got about a billion hours in EU4. Not sure where to start. The most ludicrously epic game of all time. I used to like the total war series but they just don't cut it any more. How is Stellaris? I've been put off by the fact there's ten thousand dlc for EU4 so I'm working under the logic that Stellaris basically won't be finished until 2085.

As you say they're probably going to be DLCing it until the heat death of the Universe but what they have right now is really really good anyway. I've heard good things about EU, but it seems almost too big for me what with all the addons and the like.
Finnegan Posted 11 December 2017 Posted 11 December 2017 Yeah you need to get a complete version of EU4 in the sales. It's amazing but it takes some serious reading of the wiki to get in to.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 21 December 2017 Posted 21 December 2017 hearts of iron is my favourite, love that game

I'd probably try and pick up a few of the older expansion packs if they're cheap, the vanilla game would be barely recognisable to me now.

Finnegan Posted 21 December 2017 Posted 21 December 2017 I dunno, it's hard to say because I've got so many I can't really remember which is which, what features were added where etc.
leicsmac Posted 21 December 2017 Author Posted 21 December 2017 Nae problemo, I'll take another look and pick and choose. One more question: PoE White March, yay or nay?

Definitely white march, yes, adds some good extra content. Keep in mind it's an expansion to do "during" though, not after the main story. Start it about level 7ish as a deviation from the main story (the game might prompt you on this.)

Thanks for all your help. Wallet isn't going to like this one.
shen Posted 22 December 2017 Posted 22 December 2017 EU is quite epic, haven't played it for some time though. Found HoI:3 to be a bit overwhleming for a newbie, even with the habit of EU.
leicsmac Posted 7 September 2020 Author Posted 7 September 2020 Bumping this for additional Crusader Kings 3 discussion! Also been getting into Surviving Mars in a big way recently, unfortunately don't have as much time to invest as I used to which makes things tricky as pretty much all Paradox games are utterly unforgiving if you forget something crucial.
