Kyle Scott in Chelsea contract stalemate with Leicester City and Huddersfield monitoring teenager's situation

KYLE SCOTT has hit a stalemate with Chelsea over a new contract with Leicester City and Huddersfield looking to pounce.

The stylish 19-year-old midfielder was denied a loan move to Reading on deadline day as Chelsea struggled to tie down a deal for Danny Drinkwater

Scott is still to make his Blues first-team bow but featured for the under-21’s in the impressive 4-0 Checkatrade trophy win at MK Dons earlier this month.

The Cobham academy product was on the bench for the opening two Premier League games of the campaign and the League Cup win at home to Everton.

Scott has 18 months left on his current deal and Chelsea are keen for him to stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer of 2019.

SunSport understands finances are not the issue, but the teenager feels he is at a junction in his career where he needs to be playing regular first-team football to aid his development.

This is one of the major problems with the PL and their  Academies they scoop up all the potential talent from around the country and abroad and then go out and fill their teams with expensive foreigners because they are either too scared of not qualifying for Europe or of being relegated.

These youngsters should be allowed/encouraged to stay with their local clubs where they can get a season or two of lower league football.

They would benefit from it and the clubs could then demand a decent transfer fee for them rather than having them stolen from under their noses.

This guy's from Bath and should be playing for one of the Bristol Clubs.

Incidentally we also signed his brother Kris Scott back in 2014 from Swansea.

Yep, last heard of at Rushall Olympic.

He might be a good addition for us to potentially be our 4th choice midfielder. Looking at his photo he looks very slight so you would imagine there is a lot of improvement in him when he puts a bit more muscle on him. I know nothing about him but if a Championship side wanted him on loan and he's made Chelsea's bench then he must be decent. Couple this with him not wanting to stay at Chelsea as he fears getting lost in the system is an admirable trait and evidence that their is a good head on those young shoulders.
