Matty Fryatt Retires

Huge fan of Fryatt, seems a decent guy as well. Hope he does well in whatever he does next.

Remember when Pearson left, we sold Jack Hobbs and signed that defensive midfielder called Moreno and put him at centre half instead because Vitor had arrived but was always injured?

When you think about it, it is a phenomenal achievement to get to 20 goals at Christmas (don’t think Kane has ever done that!) and I think he got to about 12 by Christmas the next season in the championship before his jaw break. My favourite memory, as others have eluded to, was the Cardiff second leg after coming back from injury. We lost the first leg 1-0 and had just gone 1 down early in the second leg,it was desperate times and everyone was writing us off and I’d given up hope but Fryatt stepped up and scored just a few minutes later and gave us confidence to completely turn the tie in our favour. We were ahead on aggregate by the hour mark! That shows that Pearson was responsible for the title winning spirit and he had it instilled in the team even in those days with a completely different set of players. Shame he couldn’t have stayed on the pitch to take a pen instead of that fat frog because I genuinely we would’ve beaten Blackpool in the final with DJ ineligible

Did a good job.  Scored vital goals after years of terrible football. Was involved in our rise back up.

 

Shame he has had to retire early.

Hopefully he will come back and coach or perhaps even manage us. Only good memories of a loyal and talented striker.
