After all the speculation,Shinji will STAY with the Japan squad. The news has just come out - as the '24 hours before the first game kicks off' deadline passed -  that no replacement will be called for. Shinji hasn't trained properly for a few days, but boss Nishino has clearly decided that he still has a chance of contributing.

 

From all the statements he's made since he took over, it's obvious that Nishino is a massive Shinji fan - so let's hope we see him at some stage - if not tomorrow against Colombia then hopefully against Senegal or Poland.

It was getting towards the end of the questions when a hand went up at the back and it became clear one of Harry Maguire’s teammates had snuck into the press conference room to ask, one Yorkshireman to the other, something out of left-field. “It’s Jamie Vardy here from Vardy News,” he wanted to know, holding up his clenched fist as a pretend microphone. “Just how big is the diameter of your head?”

 

 

Ha. He does have a massive head!

When he signed for Hull in the summer of 2014 we were after his signature too. But Hull were in the PL and he chose to take the risk of not playing as much with them. Which IIRC happened as Bruce didn't play him much at first.
