Hi, my girlfriend crashed her car today and it’s a write off. She took the new policy out 6 days ago so will she be insured for this or do most insurers have t&c’s to get them out of this type of situations?

Thanks in advance for any advice

do you have anything in writing (letter or e-mail) that the policy was confirmed?

You should be fine if so. In fact, even if there wasn't I'm sure you could still be found on their systems and get confirmation through there that the policy was taken out and paid for 6 days ago?

Ah well just take care mate. You can sometimes get a bit of a delayed reaction to shock. Hope you're all ok

Presumably, she has paid the premium so should be no problem whatsoever.   Hopefully, she is insured with a reputable insurer and not through some dodgy agent using some Mickey Mouse Insurer?

She’s with Go Skippy, couldn’t really sound more Mickey Mouse but I don’t know

I don't think it matters much if they are reputable, or not, tbh.

I'm with AA and am still waiting for a payout from my stolen car nearly 2 months later. No hire car either for stolen vehicles, apparently (small print) so have been carless for a couple of months.

Hope you're ok and get yours sorted, should be fine, although be prepared for hikes in your premiums - and happy birthday!

Go Skippy is a broker and upon their checking their web-site, they seem OK.    Not wishing to open myself up to a raft of insurance-related problems, (I am  a Chartered Insurance Broker by profession, but specializing in Ocean going ships not cars!), but if you find yourself being led a merry dance then PM me and I will try to help.

That's interesting. Do they get no-claims bonus's on ships and is it cheaper if you have a tracker and an immobilizer fitted?

Only if you keep it on your driveway overnight! :D

Yes and Yes.   Ships are similar in many ways to many of the players our illustrious scouting team identify for purchase - they sink without a trace.

Do they get stolen (other than by pirates)?

Not often stolen! But the Somali Pirates are still active taking ships for ransom

(except during the AFCON when they are glued to the wide-screen TV’s.)

Some of the Somali Pirates are ex Football Agents, the one working for Evans is definitely a former Pirate.
