I  don't suppose it does either side any harm in being aligned to each other, particularly De Montfort and of course Vichai did of course donate a large sum of money. Possibly I'm just being too cynical and the use of it is given to high achieving student? But ... without going into the circumstances,  upon speaking to someone in a certain position at De Montfort, he said,  'you have to stop thinking of these institutions as seats of learning,  they're now merely places of big business '. Thinking of all the residential building by De Montfort over recent years, the UK fees of  £9000, overseas students around £19000, with the latter a captive audience for rent, I see his point.

I don't want to derail this thread, so I'll keep it brief but you are right. I won't go into specifics but tuition fees from home students now make up a relatively small amount of a Universities overall income, the majority for most universities comes from international students and research grants/other business interests. That sounds bad on the face of it, but in order to provide new buildings, equipment, hire leading academics to teach students etc, that extra income is needed.

This is true. It's also important to remember that whilst students are paying more in tuition fees, universities aren't actually getting more money than before... the government used to subsidise the courses.

What do de Montfort uni need a box for ? Shows how they spend tuition fees.

For £125 k I would want to play in midfield. .That's about 4 x my friends  cost down near the end .£30 k works out at around £125 per person per game

Did you used to be Dynamark?

I think a lot of players have themselves as registered companies as a way of perhaps paying less tax than they otherwise would do as a normal PAYE employee. Not saying this is the case with Kasper but I've read about players doing this. Then they pay corporation tax at 20% instead of 40% PAYE? Not an expert though, so could be way off the mark....

i always wondered if professional footballers are self employed or if they're actually officially on the books of whatever club they play for

They have to pay for them if any become available. Matty James got rid of his in the summer and Ndidi & Iheanacho took it. I think it’s the last one next to where sky & bt sport present from near sk4.

The prices start from around £20,000 ranging up to £40,00 the more central you get. All that money and they still charge you for all the food and drink you get on a match day.

I think when you're that rich though you don't really care about additional expenses on top.

High [Peak yes twas I slight spelling error somewhere.

De Montfort seem to have unlimited funds and influence .Take the old building that Riders used to play in they spent a small fortune on that couple of years back and its only used  for presentations and such. Most of the uni buildings are unused for 4 months of the year and I would agree more a big business now than a traditional style seat of learning. My daughter recently went to Worcester Uni and 4 of the 6 in her digs were Chinese/Japan and the fifth was welsh -she left after 2 terms.

Still cant see why they would benefit from £30 k plus box at the stadium.

Almost £20,000 Raised For The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation
An online auction for the newly-named Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation has raised almost £20,000, as the Club continues to pay tribute to its late Chairman.

- An online auction for the newly-named Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation has raised £19,708
- The LCFC Foxes Foundation was renamed in honour of the Club’s late Chairman, Khun Vichai
- Three items were auctioned off, including Jamie Vardy’s boots, his executive box for the Burnley game and a pair of Kasper Schmeichel’s gloves

The LCFC Foxes Foundation, which has raised almost £2M for local charities since its formation in 2011/12, has been renamed in honour of Khun Vichai, whose generosity saw him make over £4M in personal donations to local hospitals, universities and charities in recent years.

Three items were auctioned off to help raise money for the Foundation, including the boots Jamie Vardy wore in last Saturday’s match at Cardiff with ‘Khun Vichai’ embroidered on them.

They went for an astonishing £9,008, while a pair of Kasper Schmeichel’s gloves also fetched £4,000. Meanwhile, Vardy’s executive box for the Burnley game on Saturday was also up for auction and raised £6,700.

The package includes a four-course meal, drinks and a personal visit by the striker. In total, all three items fetched an incredible £19,708 – all of which will go directly to The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation.

Under its new name, The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation will continue to use football as a force for good in the community in a way that reflects the generosity, care and love of the Club’s late Chairman.
