Yes. I'll be up in that area for the Burnley game. There's a board on the wall in the corridor with the names of all the box holders. I'll get a picture of it. That way we can see for sure how many of the players have one.

They used to print the list of box holders in the match day program. They still might do actually!

These are the box holders for the current season.

So basically Kasper, Vardy and Nacho?

Also they spelled De Montfort wrong...

Vardy does his via his v9 academy I believe as that's what's above his box from memory.

When we did the tour we got told you where looking at 35 to 42k per season tho. Not 10-15.

K Schmeichel LTD?

Wonder what his business is...

I think a lot of players have themselves as registered companies as a way of perhaps paying less tax than they otherwise would do as a normal PAYE employee. Not saying this is the case with Kasper but I've read about players doing this. Then they pay corporation tax at 20% instead of 40% PAYE? Not an expert though, so could be way off the mark....

Gazza is often in one near A1 block - wonder which company has that one?

There is something in this but the majority of his salary has to be paid to him under paye .......... HMRC are much cuter than they used to be .......

yeah, Im going back a while but I remember reading that around 2006 Arsenal squad paid less than £250K in tax between them in a whole year because they were all on some kind of tax "fiddle" - but obviously legal.

This is probably a whole other topic though and not to detract from the fundraising here

The company I work for has a box, the most expensive one actually, .... £125,000 a season

The king power box would be more expensive if it had to be paid for. .........

for that price you are being fully catered including drinks as that works out £500/head per prem match.  There is no guarantee of any other fixtures

Salary will be PAYE. They are not paid as contractors, free lance etc... by the club, they are regular employees.

However, sponsorships and the like may well be through a limited company. They're not employees.

£657 per person per match it works out at as it seats 10 people, it’s the most expensive as it’s next to the owners box

You would think what they have to pay a season everything would be included in the price. The food they serve is bang average and they still charge nearly a fiver for a bottle of Chang.

Don’t know what’s happened to Upton Steel these days they’ve not got their box anymore and took away all their sponsorship from around the ground.

There was a big thing about footballers and Image rights and tax

The HMRC set up a specialist team last year to investigate the revenue streams going to these Limited companies

Massively good on the Vardys.  He's barely back from the funeral and raising several thousand pounds for VIchai's foundation.  Very much in the spirit of paying back to the community.

Sincerely hope the visit is after the match though ... we need him on the pitch ...

What do de Montfort uni need a box for ? Shows how they spend tuition fees.

For £125 k I would want to play in midfield. .That's about 4 x my friends  cost down near the end .£30 k works out at around £125 per person per game

You raise a good point and who gets to use it. No doubt if you asked you'd get some corporate bollocks  about it being used for corporate purposes for the betterment of the University. In reality my guess it's just a nice little perk fora privileged few at the top.

As someone that works in the HE sector (albeit not for De Montfort) their box will likely come with their sponsorship of the club. However their sponsorship package with the club will be used to attract overseas students rather than domestic students I would imagine. The money for universities these days comes increasingly from a reliance on attracting overseas students in a very competitive international market.

As a side to my point above, I have travelled to exhibitions aimed at recruiting international students, and trust me the pull of a uni that is linked to a premier league club is huge. For example students overseas may not have heard of De Montfort, but they will have heard of LCFC, so by being able to display the club crest alongside their own is huge.

However I take your point about the use of the box, I imagine that’ll be reserved for those at the top.

I  don't suppose it does either side any harm in being aligned to each other, particularly De Montfort and of course Vichai did of course donate a large sum of money. Possibly I'm just being too cynical and the use of it is given to high achieving student? But ... without going into the circumstances,  upon speaking to someone in a certain position at De Montfort, he said,  'you have to stop thinking of these institutions as seats of learning,  they're now merely places of big business '. Thinking of all the residential building by De Montfort over recent years, the UK fees of  £9000, overseas students around £19000, with the latter a captive audience for rent, I see his point.

Likewise in HE. I got annoyed for a second thinking why doesn't my employer offer this... but then realised if it did it would mean either a seat at Birmingham City or Aston Villa, so I think I will pass! :D
