Surely, as public transport is massively encouraged, the government should be investing in this to cut down prices and improve the service, instead it's getting an increase, when the service that is provided is so incompetent already. Always delayed, cancelled and overcrowded. Impossible to find a seat half of the time, and more first class carriages then standard ones, which is pointless - because lets be honest, who has the money to pay for first class? Rather then spending money on pointless things like painting Buckingham Palace, and doing up the Queens 69 bedrooms, spend it on making it easier to get around the country for the working class people of Britain. Rant over. Create a canvas -camp s,around London, for refugee train commuters........simples!!

RonnieTodger Posted 4 January 2019 Posted 4 January 2019 In Europe, I found that German and French trains were excellent but Italian ones were even worse than ours.
Buce Posted 4 January 2019 Posted 4 January 2019 In my experience, the best public transport systems are in countries with the fewest cars. The railways were brilliant in India when I travelled there in the Eighties, like it must have been here before Beeching, and in places with little or no rail network (Israel, Egypt, most of Asia, all spring to mind) you could get a bus from anywhere to almost anywhere.

Stadt Posted 5 January 2019 Posted 5 January 2019 Took my brother into town yesterday, a child single from Glenfield to town was £2.00 for a ~3 mile journey. An adult single is £2.90 and a day ticket (they don’t do return tickets) is £4.30. National express is the only reasonably priced transport I use frequently but often the coaches are full of c unts that stink or have the loudest phone conversations you’ll ever hear

Costs about a 10er to catch a bus anywhere, you’re lucky if it’s on time and the drivers are all maniacs. Trains are an even bigger farce Have to agree with the bus drivers. I think the problem is a lack of pride and interest in the profession. 25 years a go a typical bus driver would love to answer questions about routes, bus numbers and stops and show off their knowledge. Nowadays most of them seem to know FA and treat you like **** if you ask a question. You're made to feel like you're getting in their way by daring to step on to their bus and wanting to go somewhere, and God forbid if you don't have the correct change.

It's probably because they don't know as it keeps changing.
