davieG Posted 8 February 2019 Posted 8 February 2019 A fire has engulfed a dormitory at the youth team training centre of one of Brazil's biggest football clubs, killing 10 people, local media report. Three people were also injured when the fire broke out at Ninho de Urubu, the training ground of Flamengo football club, in Rio de Janeiro. The fire reportedly broke out as players were sleeping in the dorm. The cause is not yet known. Flamengo is one of Brazil's biggest and best-known clubs.
MC Prussian Posted 8 February 2019 Posted 8 February 2019 Oh, dear. Flamengo is Brazil's richtest football club and their training ground one of the most modern in the country. However, the area where the fire broke out looks a bit older, the building resembles a bit of a shack:

I'd love there to be an end of season tournament between Leicester, Cardiff, Flamengo and perhaps Chapecoence with all proceeds from ticket sales going towards helping the families of those affected by the tragedies - more aimed at the less well off victims of course.
