Leicester City will be collecting another huge chunk of cash after finishing ninth in the Premier League.

The Foxes drew with Chelsea on the final day of the season, ensuring they finished ninth for the second successive season.

But that hasn't prevented an increase in revenue for City, who will receive a timely financial boost ahead of what should be a busy summer in the transfer market, and that comes on top of the building of their new £100m training ground.

At the end of the 2017/18 season, City received a total of £118.2 million with £23.3m in prize money, £80.4m in equal share and £14.6m in TV money, which was based on the 12 games they had televised last season.

The official figures for this season are set to be announced in the coming days, but the Foxes are set to earn £23.1m in prize money with a reduced equal share of £79.4m.

However, having had three more games broadcast this season (15), they are predicted to receive £17.9m in TV fees, taking their total Premier League earnings up to a mouth-watering £120.4m.

That means they are set to earn £2.2m more than last season, despite finishing in the same position and receiving slightly less prize money and equal share allocation.

The income will be key for City as they look to strengthen for next season with vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha already pledging to back Brendan Rodgers in the transfer market.

The club must also balance costs with the building of the new training ground, which will set them back £100m over the course of its construction.

£2.2m per position. Merit payment is £28.6m for 8th place.

So £47m? Couple of decent signings that

If we win and Wolves fail to beat Liverpool we finish 8th. If we lose and Brighton beat West Ham at home we finish 10th. A difference of 4.4 mill between 8th and 10th.

We have a fair bit of tv money to make up this season aswell - our lack of competitiveness and games against relegation/title battlers late on has meant we’ve not been on as much as previous seasons …

Every single game of ours was on TV....internationally. 😜

If I'm not mistaken the teams also receive money from international broadcast rights.

Yes but I’m sure they also get a tv fee for every sky/bt sport game broadcast - which means the more in demand you are on domestic tv, the higher the take. It’s not fortunes but I bet we are a couple mill down on last two seasons

The top 6 now get a bigger share rather than it being split equally, we voted for that.

The so-called big six Premier League clubs have won their persistent battle to be paid a greater share of the income from its burgeoning international TV rights which have for 26 years been shared equally between all the league’s clubs.

Led by Manchester City and Liverpool, supported by Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs, the six have pressed the case that as they are the prime attractions for global audiences and money paid by international broadcasters, they should receive more of the money.

This is a landmark change to a key element of the rules and which has helped to preserve a measure of financial and on-field competitiveness ever since the First Division clubs broke away from the Football League’s inter-divisional sharing arrangements and formed the Premier League in 1992.

...is that not a part of the loan agreement in respect of the infrastructure finance!!!

Our loans are guaranteed against final position placings, we can't have it twice.
